There are some fast f7's and some medium f7's and some lemon f7's depends on what day of the week it was made. You cannot compare the two sleds or even the two manufacturers. Take an apex for a ride. That is all you will need. If that is not fast enough then save up for a turbo or s/c. These sleds are ferrari's or lambos. Apex's are the most consistent muscle sled I've been on. Though they are "heavy" or there stated hp is not as high as the other "stated" hp. They will run with every other top sled from the other brands. When my attak had a few small mods, air box, exhaust, pc-3 and ignition box I could smoke a z1 with some tricks on it. 1000 feet not even close, across the lake with a 35-40 rolling start we sould pull pretty close then I would start to pull away at 100. Ad a s/c or turbo and you have enough potential to scare the crap out of yourself no matter how fast of a rider you are, and still have a trail reliable sled. Put 250 hp out of a f1000 and see how trail friendly it is. Test ride a stock one and you will see what I mean.

Been onto another thread here about an Apex running done a 600E-Tec where I mentioned about how my '03 600HO Rev outruns my '09 Apex LTX GT anytime under any conditions... more snow there is the farther behind the Apex falls. On GPS the 600 has ran 178km/hr.
Anyway today was out onto a lake with about 10-12cms of snow. Absolute top the Apex could show on its speedometer was 157km/hr. It does have stock track with 162 studs. Only performance add-on would be an Ulmer's Stage 2 clutch kit.

I've hit 100 and 104 mph (GPS) on my 06 Attak on hardpack. I am a big guy at 6'4" 325. Earlier this year I had a guy on an Rev XP pull up beside me and give a nod. We both hit it and he went by me like I was riding a 250 Bravo. I could not keep up with him at all. I'm am 99% sure it had 600 on the side. Weight wise he had at least 300lbs on me.

These posts are a dime a dozen but still I bite lol!
It depends more on set-up once you get into big bore sleds. People spend soo much time focusing on the motor. I've seen just about every brand beat just about every other brand. But here is the key, know what conditions your sled is set-up for and try to stick to conditions that favour you. Everything from you stud pattern, ski alignment, track tension, belt wear, ilder bearings have the potential to rob your HP. Even the size of you idlers can change you top speed.
I bought a sled lift for 300 bucks - best investment I've ever made. Everytime I come home I put my Apex up and check these things. It takes 10 min. Proper maintenance easily makes 5 mph diff.
Sooo...now very few people will line up with me. I've beat just about every brand when I pick my race. The biggest thing I watch for are the guys that try to lure you out on ice when they have 200+ studs in their 1" lug speed track. The Apex is hard to to get to hook off the line in my experience, but given enough room I can usually run those guys down. There are also the guys that are just simply better draggers too - they simply know how to get off the line fast. My buddy beats me with his sled, then we swap rides and he beats me even worse with my sled. Funny! I think I might spin too much sometimes.
No normally aspirated 600 is going to run my Apex down. The F7, that is a weapon though and this years F8's are supposed to be even quicker. Some F7s just seem to be feeakishly fast, but I heard the 03s and 04s like to melt heads.
