Just curious. Anyone experience more than normal heat coming from the muffler side. The last tw rides I experienced the old hot foot you used to get from the old phasers. Is the muffler shot?

No joke there. That whole side gets very warm if you can find some big enough trails to allow hours of 80 mph and up.
Cannot keep your hand on the chain case or hood components like the headlight surround( black under headlight hood component) or top side vents. Have always wondered how that plastic can get so warm and not melt. Pull that right side panel some time after a good run. More then warm. All turbos put out some really hot temps and this little fire breather is no different! Just for shits a giggles, give that black under headlight area, towards the windshield ends a touch. It’s the part that is only 2” wide so you can only touch that hot spot with two fingers!!! HOT.

Yes it's when you ride big open trails like in QC.

When you're on boost, the turbo is very very hot. Not a bad idea to add more venting if possible, and remember the back side of the equation too. Also, I spent allot of time heat insulating everything I could around and behind the turbo and muffler. I insulated the mag end of the engine, the front of the chain case and oil tank, and even the oil lines. The oil lines are close to the back of muffler. I don't any more heat added to already hot engine oil! I insulated the inside top side of the chain case as the exhaust pipe passes close by. Anything to keep exhaust heat off of it. I selected heat insulation that reflects heat and withstand 2000F, and has high-temp adhesive. Also, after looking at how the insulation on the front of the gas tank was falling off, I also re-insulated (and made much better) the front of the gas tank. The tank is just plastic and the exhaust is not far away!!! Besides, I'd rather have cooler fuel going into the injectors.

Thanks. I had thought about doing this preseason. You just made it very clear and saved me time researching the heat insulation. Love this forum.

That is exactly why I started the post. My boot came unglued. Had a back up pair. Ended up last ride running with my toe hanging off sidedto keep cool.

Check your pipe from manifold to turbo, could be cracked at welds or flex joint.

My foot gets warm, but not HOT.
I put a vent in the front & some at knee level to get the heat away from my foot.
I also removed the sound padding & put heat reflective tape on all the plastic. The stuff you buy at any store.
It works well.
