NYTRO XTX $10549 [130 HP & NEEDS A BIGGER GAS TANK ADDED $325] PLUS LABOR TO ADD TANK $150 = $11024

APEX LTX $10999 [150 HP WITH BIG TANK ALREADY]

How does THIS add up :o|

Frustrating isnt it! I want a Nytro with 136" track and larger tank built in, what is up with the small tank??? maybe its time to jump ship. I cant believe I said that.

Put on a set of accessory fuel bags and ride it. I would think shorties must be getting about 100+ miles out of a tank of fuel. I can't see why that doesn't work for most. I know when I lived on the east coast, I would fill up when I passed a gas station regardless of if I needed fuel or not. 100 miles of riding should cover mosts needs, and if not, get the accessory bags. There is a fix and it doesn't require a PFD.......

I've talked with several that are only getting 13-14 mpg!

100 miles & out!

When you ride with 4 stroke Apex-Attaks only, its a big pain in everyones a$$!

I can't understand how any of the guys that ride Nytro's are only getting 13-14 mpg. I ran my sled all winter and hit 16 mpg all the time. True, before my motor got broke in I might have got 13-14 mpg.

Riverrat, I ride in New York and have no need for a larger gas tank. Never ran outnd never even came close either. Plenty of gas stations in New York to fill up at.

this is a monumental difference with us mountain riders....we cannot get 60 miles on our sleds :)

course we are in a little different situation less air and all...but I would KILL to get 100 miles...so for me, I had to get the new bigger tank...

and if you cannot install it yoruself, you are probably not supposed to be on a high performance machine....it is about 4 bolts, and that is about it...

mtdream, Did you get your tank? Was it that easy to install really?
blk or wht tank & hows it match up with wht or blk on sled?

I think what youre seeing is the difference in tech. Nytro represents the newest technology and tooling cost.

The apex while still current is yammies old tech now. They couldnt raise prices cause they havent done any major tooling to it that could justify a price increase. For everyone that was upset that yamaha didnt come out with the next gen apex for 09 should be greatful they can now get an apex cheaper than some of the other manuf. 800 class sleds. On the other hand... For everyone who thinks the turbo jags are over priced get used to it cause whatever replaces the apex will be similiarly priced especially if it gets the 170+hp like most are asking for.

To me riding a 4 stroke isnt about the fact that youre able to get gas and havent run out. Its the fact that I can ride past 3 or 4 gas stations and still not be worried about running out. I can understand all the manu using smaller tanks but they should atleast offer 10+ gallon tanks as an accessory or option.

I think a larger tank would be great. I get 100 plus miles on my nytro with pipe, header and stage 2 when the fuel light comes on I then add 6.4 to 6.5 gallons. My wifes at the same time with no mods other than 10ek's will take 5.6 to 5.7 gallons at 100 miles. I have 1000 miles she has 600, the last ride my nephew was on the trottle just as hard as me he was rideing my wife's nytro...

I wish it had a bigger tank also but I can tell you I ride with an Attak and If I ran out of gas there is no way we could siphon any out of his sled because he is just about empy too.
He might have 10 miles of fuel left and that is not much more than the Nytro

13-14 miles per gallon here is the best I've done

i can see 16+ riding like grandpa

cardguy, Thats 103.60 miles & out of gas! Thats what most people I've talked to have said, 100sh & out! On here is the only people that have said more!

13.5 to 15s is what we get with our Attaks running very hard! 95 plus on rr beds & such! Got 16-18 last trip running easy! 55-75 mph.

So thats 135 range if not more!

No Nytro can come within 10 miles range of that running hard I'm sure.

So far this winter I've got over 1600 miles and I've been averaging 13 mpg. That is at the top end of my gas milage. I've never been able to get even 100 miles out of a tank.

Guys that say they are riding WFO and getting great milage must be running on trails that are flat, smooth and hard. My trails are bumpy, twisty and have lots of elevation changes. On top of that, we are fortunate enough to receive lots of fresh snow all winter. The 7.4 gallon tank does not work for me at all.
