Now that the season is over I was out in the trailer tonight setting up the battery charger for the sleds, came to the Viper and that torx bolt and remebered the great seat bolt debate and wondered HOW DID IT GO?

Did any one lose their seat? Or battery to theft? Did every one get the torx bolt out this spring ?

I took mine out and left it out. No problems, but I may try to add a thumb screw just for peace of mind and to prevent excess movement.

I had the nice aluminum knurled seat screw from racewerx, but when my wife bought me a tunnel pack for Christmas I took it out and left it out. I was afraid it would wear a hole in the tunnel pack. Even with no screw I did not have any problems. I did wrap the seat catch bracket with tape as it has a lot of sharp edges.

Grease the threads on the aluminum thumb screw or they will seize in the steel threads. Ask me how in know.

Am I the only one who thinks the original is fine?

I ran all this season with NO bolt and had no problems, in fact cut myself several times trying to get seat off on the stupid tang to change dead battery. And the hole in my large tunnel bag is now about the size of a plum from wearing on it.

Well the bolt is out and the seat snapped on after installing the battery charger leads . I think I will leave well enough alone and not replace the 1 inch M6 screw with a thumb screw as well. I am going boltless.

Hey will this weight savings Matter? Oh yea only if I ride in the mountains. LOL
