The thing I can't understand is why the base model SW is only $800 more than the base model Apex....Step up to the Apex SE and they are the same price. The Apex is overpriced IMO when compared to the SW.

There may be a lot of Turbos and Super Chargers sold and installed on Apexs now.
$17000++ for a new Sidewinder combined with little demand or value for a used Apex...A little boost on your current Apex and you are back on top.

This maybe what I'll do ! If I spend $10,000 on the overhaul)) - chassis - steering parts again - new rivets - clutches balanced again - power adder - suspention etc etc !! it will be all new again! For Thou$sand$ le$$ !

Over the years I have watched a number of Apex's and you just have to respect how well built that sled is. The engine is hands down the most impressive engine ever to be in a sled. I was really hoping to see that chassis re-vamped a bit. Change the seating position and update the geometry of the front a arms. That would be a winner.
For me, I just cant get used to that sitting position and cant put the kind of hours on it that I can my nytro. The procross is a good handling chassis but does not seem very well built based on hic ups I have seen from friends.
Here's hoping for redesigned Apex in coming years.

Have you ridden a newer post 11 Apex XTX with a WRP seat , and riser , with the star kit or comparable modifications ?Over the years I have watched a number of Apex's and you just have to respect how well built that sled is. I ride lead with a Polaris trail modified race sled ,and a BRP renegade , and I sit 50% more than they do .
This shows you a little about what a well set up Apex can do .

If power and reliability is real (have to wait and see for a season), and the weight is in line, then the BTX is for me. I still run my old 02/03 Viper Mtn (avatar) and struggle to keep up with the new polaris and doo backcountry sleds. Would be nice to take a jump forward. On the other hand I have gotten a ton of experience digging, lifting and rolling my Viper to get unstuck!!!
My Attak sits at home now as I rarely go on long trail rides, and it is impossible off-trail where any significant hills or trees exist. I do miss that motor though.

I bought my 06 er brand new and still drive it to this day with 9000 plus miles of smiles. After working through all the issues exhaust 4 times broken suspension broken drive shaft delamained wheels fuel pump relay broken oil tank to name some that put a end to weekends of riding. All these issues were addressed plus many extra updates that felt were needed riser, WRP seat, shocks, clutching, power commander, tall windshield, track extension low snow wheel kit to name a few. I never gave up on my apex and I never will. I not interested in the new sled for a few reasons money, first year production been there done that, and its not what I wanted. Im still waiting for the new apex this may push me to add big power to my sled turbo/ sc not sure what direction I will go but time will tell. 4 holes are better than 3

I WILL NOT TRADE my apex's FOR A SIDEWINDER, why does a company
give up on their product when they almost have it perfected. The only thing left on apex to perfect is the
suspension. At least thats what i see.

Staying with 2012 Apex xtx until I see an Apex like replacement eps sled from Yamaha or something new in the 150-160 hp power crusier class. I won't say no to a used SW a few years from now but not new just not that appealing to me to part with the big bucks. I can wait until 2018 release a clear path to Yamaha new products will be known by then. Doo will have to make a move on 4s in 2018 as well so 18 could be a big year for 4s sleds.I WILL NOT TRADE my apex's FOR A SIDEWINDER, why does a company

I might. Will just depend if the Vector gets traded instead. Waited too long already. Time for something different. Will be my luck an Apex replacement comes out next year, but oh well. Can always upgrade again in a few years. Anyone interested in an '06 Apex RTX with various add ons? Lol

I'm hanging on to both of our '06 Apex based sleds for next year but am going to add a Sidewinder LTX-LE to the stable. This is the first time that Yamaha has tripped my trigger enough to buy a new sled since they introduced the Apex's in 2006. There's just too much good stuff on the new Sidewinders to want to make me wait any longer to buy a new sled.
