2001 AC Z370
2006 AC F120
Overall, I like the Viper.
Have the SR Viper with front coilovers
CONS:
Serviceability compared to a traditional Yamaha 4-stroke is awful in my opinion. Changed headlight bulbs, swapped track... these were very complicated tasks that should not have been. Changing bulbs should not require shroud disassembly. Perhaps if Arctic Cat used Yamaha's spring clip rather than a 1/4 turn locking plate, this would be easier.
The front suspension on my std Viper (coilovers) are not equally capable to the rear skid which. They need to be stiffer.
Oil drain is ridiculous... Drill a hole, give us a nice braided drain hose, but draining into the chassis or having to rig a custom funnel through a chassis hole is unacceptable.
PROS:
Rear skid is awesome!
Engine is awesome and pulls just like my old Nytro RTX SE
The 129" track is a really nice compromise between a std short and a long track.
Slider wear is nothing compared to Yamahas... Finally!
The steering effort is light... Finally!
Oil sight windows are a nice touch...
PROBLEMS:
Backlighting on my handlebar warmer switch blew out in the middle of my night ride... I guess I hit a bump too hard
My brake squeaks constantly at low speeds.
I already bent my exhaust tip on a hard bump. There should be a protector there like AC uses on their RR versions of this chassis.
I can't wait to get more seat time! We melted down here in NYS

I'm nearly at 500 miles between the last 2 weekends. I love this sled. I bleed blue so my ski doo and polaris buddies are having a hay day over this, but I'm so glad with my decision. I let a friend with an AC 1100 turbo ride it this weekend. He is buying a Viper this week.

Not happy at all. I took delivery of it on January 21st. Had a chance to ride it a totally of 142 miles. Since then it has been in the shop. First for a blown head gasket. The radiator cap fell off and caused it to overheat!! Got the sled back last night and now it is mis-firing!! Back to the shop last night. "Liked" the sled for awhile, now I am not sure I want it back!! VERY disappointed at this point!!

Not to pick at you or cause you more grief but I have a question. Did you continue to ride after the overheat light came on? Please note that does not excuse the radiator cap not being screwed on tight I was just curious had you stopped when the light came on if you would have lost a head gasket.

OK I will come to his defense my head gasket went at 165 miles and no overheating no light or codes. The old rx's and apex's would shut down when they overheated. Mine dropped a cylinder at 170 deg, then ran fine the next day I even called the dealer that installed the turbo and they said it would not blow head gasket and then run fine. It must have been electrical! at 950 miles and then did it again. Then it ran fine for 80 miles. Then the next morning it dropped a cylinder again, then it blew up. Not a single code!!!! no Lights!!! Ran fine then NOT. When it went down the temp was 173 deg.
If you lose the water there is nothing hitting the censor no light. Mine never lost water, never showed more steam than normal out of the exhaust and ran fine when the gasket healed. It would then would run rough to 6000 rpms then take off like a rocket.
I was not going to post this on here but I finally realized that maybe others had a problem and thought they were alone.

Overheat light never came on. I did shut it down when it began to smell hot.

Wow, def sounds electrical like a spark advance gone wrong. Did you ever see the engine parts to see if the pistons suffered detonation?

Pistons were not burnt from a lean condition but the small block fragments were fused to the piston tops. the hole was at the thinest section between cylinders and it is about 1/4" wide and not quite 1/2" deep from the top down. No damage to the head but we are planing it to make sure.

Detonation would warp the piston by the exhaust port and break the rings, usually stabbing ring pieces into the top of the piston (I have a rather large collection of these kind of pistons left over from my stock car racing days). Doesn't need to be lean to detonate, and detonation can certainly blow out a head gasket. Can you post (or send me in message) a picture of the top of the piston? Would really hate to see you put it back together and have the same issue.

I am not diong it Hauck power sports has it and are the ones saying it was a leak caused by the boost gauge line. The only problem with that is the boost gauge was not on it when the 1st event happend I only added them when I was affraid they set it up with too lean condition. The AFR always read under 12.0 even after the cylinder drop.
I have a new block, wiseco pistons and carillo rods going into it and I am taking her up to 10#'s of boost with new fuel pump and boost controller along with quick spool waste gate.
