For the guys who already changed out there stock primary rollers on 2017 and 2018 SW with TP 14.8 or 15.8 what did you like about them, compared to stock? Ya I understand they will increase engagement some, but did they quiet down the ramp rattle any as well? I am in hope the larger size rollers weither yamahas or TP will help belt problem,so it may allow belt to backshift completely back to top,or neutral w/out any problems. So I was thinking of trying Loans 15.8 for next year, any thoughts?

Waiting to find out more about Yamaha updated 2019 rollers

You mean this ramp rattle? I would love to have it quieter....
If anybody knows a permanent fix to reduce the rattle I’m all ears

Yes I do mean that rattle. When I remove my primary clutch for ramp changes, and I put it back togeather, and I shake it by hand,it seems to me it is because the ramps are lose to the rollers, maybe I am hearing things to.

Doesnt make the rattle any quieter. I replaced my rollers with 15.5mm rollers at the end of the season, seems to help with the secondary closing, but ran out of snow so my results were a little inconclusive.

OK oh boy, here we go again, with the rattlesnake sounding sidewinder. Maybe it was Yamaha,s intent to give it that rattle snake sound, what is a sidewinder?? Right! OK I was hoping you may have had better sounding performance gain with the larger rollers compared to stock size. Did you buy TP rollers? I was thinking theres were 14.8 and 15.8 only in Yamaha size.

LOL, these 3cyl have been rattling since they came out in 03, I guess im used to it after riding a Nytro for many years.

Yamaha makes them in .5mm increments from 14.5 -16.5 mm I think. The rollers are just a tuning part really, they can give better performance, but depends what youre looking for. I think the bigger rollers will prevent the bushings from getting pushed out like the stock rollers. I wanted higher engagement, so these rollers work well for me. I think the higher engagement makes the sled feel snappier, and I like when I can make the anti-lag bang at will.

The bigger rollers should perform better on the trail. These sleds have too much power to truly hookup on the trail, so with the small rollers, they hit very hard and the clutches overshift, then when you get traction the clutches have to backshift before shifting out again. With the bigger rollers, the clutches shouldn't overshift as much with trackspin, this effectively keeps you in the correct gear better. The mountain sleds come with bigger rollers for this exact reason.

Thanks Phil,ya I did some playing around with the primary rollers in 03 when I got my first Yamaha 4 stroke rx1,i also had my first aftermarket team secondary on that sled, and amazingly it has been my fastest stocker to date, with gps speed of 117 on ice/snow,but some of that speed came from a 1"/3/4 inch button track that came on it,and short studs, and running a long ways to achive that speed, plus, sled much lower to ground, helps a lot. I used to have charts from Yamaha,on all there springs, ramps, helix,s rollers, gear ratios, and some other stuff, cant get that kind of info today,to bad well its a yamacat anyways.

I run the 16mm Rollers from G-force.

Those RX1 had long legs if they had the room. You can still find most of those charts online, its just with this brand new secondary there still seems to be alot of different ideas out there. Im sure this season there will be a better consensus on what works and what doesnt work.

And what are the results?
All I know about running larger rollers is that they will decrease the force of the weights, so wouldn't you need more weight (or a different finish rate spring) to pull the same RPM?

That's just the sound our sleds make when getting ready to strike!:die

My ‘04 RX-1 has same issue, man I cycled the sled 3 times before riding and she purred. Break the bitch in and she rattles, lol. I will always love my winder. And nice job
Ready to strike for sure

And what are the results?
Good so far. I am running a stock tune. While the roller /weight combo doesn't quite have the same bottom end "snap" my Heelcickers did, they pull well, engage low and combined with the straight 45 helix I gained 2MPG. And they last. My heelclickers wore out in 600 miles, with no help from Randy of Supertorquer .
I am debating whether or not to go with a 240 quick spool tune next year. The sled in stock form pulls well and has been very reliable. I would defiantly go with the quietest muffler I could find as I have gotten to really like the "quietness" of the Winder. No earplugs needed...
