I have a fellow rider that has just rebuilt his polaris 700 in spring and just blew it again, he realizes he's got to get something different, but keeps looking at polaris, but now maybe 4 stroke. Anybody have any previous experience with polaris 4 strokes? I am trying to convince him to go Yamaha, have any ideas how to convince him? ;):D

my friend bought a 09 turbo dragon new, rode it 2 seasons and ditched it, motor was excellant but the rest of the sled was a pos, from the shocks and the suspension, the slider wear was unreal and the mickey mouse chaincase and reverse, sled tried going into reverse @ 50mph and exploded the chaincase, after warranty repair it did it again
but you can get the ecm flashed and they make 175hp

He has rode mine, and my other buddy's to. It's just a different ride and he would have to ride it often to get use to it. He's trying to decide between a 2010 Polaris 850 4 stroke with a 136 track or a 2009 Yamaha Nytro XTX 144 1.75 track

Use a little humor and press him at every turn. I convinced a life long ski doo rider to switch by having focus on the engine...sound...response ...etc.

show him a list of your repair bills over your ownership, next to his for the same period of time ;)!

I didn't think Polaris has an 850 four stroke...you sure? I thought it was closer to 600cc.

Let your buddy decide what to get...you don't want to feel guilty if he switches to a Yammy and regrets it.

Not 100% on size, I do know there is a 750cc. I am just going by what he told me, maybe he made a mistake.
I just don't want him to get himself into something that's gonna blow up on him again. I was the one that had to tow him on both blowups. Just don't want him to regret getting a polaris again. I was trying to convince him to get a 4 stroke before he got the polaris 700.

There is a yamaha on here somewhere with something like 50000km show him that they can last that long with no engine work.

Roll up a newspaper and swat him on the snout everytime he says "Polaris".

Those gutless 750 Polaris 4 strokes!! Ha ha even the turbos weren't fast. They were constantly in the dealership with numerous problems. The 700 and 800 had top end issues up until recently. I remember this poor guy bought a brand new Polaris 700 dragon. Rode it on 3 short trips and the piston broke and scored the cylinder and peppered the head. That sled sat in the corner of the shop the entire winter and spring. Why? Because Polaris didn't have any cylinders or pistons to send us for warranty. They went through so many they were on back order for months. I like the iq chassis. But the engines suck and the shocks do too.

True this!! I loved my 2008 IQ700 untill the motor went Kaboom at 2000 miles had constant shock issues also. I sold it blown up for cheap and unfortunately the guy who rebuilt it blew it up again exactly 2000 miles later. Reason I went Yammi 4-stroke.
Buddy had the first year of the Polaris Turbo (06 I think) complete lemon. Motor went twice and dealer finally had to buy it back as he was ready to get a lawyer as it only got on the snow twice all year.

Before I bought the Apex XTX last year my only experience with a 4 stroke was a Polaris 2006 FST Classic - 750 Turbo I bought new. Got lucky, 8500 miles, no issues other than a couple recalls to reflash but other than that and now needing a new track, its been a great sled. Top speed 94 mph with no mods. However, when I was deciding last year what new sled to get, no contest, Yamaha just makes a better machine.

I just convinced a lifelong skidoo guy as well, he went with a 2013 apex xtx, he rode mine last year for about 20 kms and was sold, power steering, snow trackers and power!

towed a guy on a m1000 about 15-20 miles from out in the boonies with about 6" of fresh snow on the ground last year, the first couple times we stopped he was wondering if there was something wrong with my sled or if I was letting my clutches cool down, I said no, just wanted to have a drink and let you take a break from eating snowchunks flying from my track, he stopped asking why we were stopping after the first 3 times, he just opened up a can and :drink: it without saying very much

second guy I converted was a guy from a 1200doo that couldnt stand being outperformed by a sled that is heavier and has 150cc less than his sled... I didnt really help in the matter, lol

both guys bought a nytro, one MTX one XTX...

2 years ago when I first bought this sled, there was only a couple people in my town with newer yamaha's, now there is about a dozen or so

:yam:
