Hurricane Apex 167HP Upgrade and Clutching

i not sure i understand why your machining clutchs unless your running geared down to get same top end i know your lucky to get six percent overdrive with yamaha clutches but bad thing about getting into overdrive is clutches are not as efficiant past one to one unless i banged my head and not understanding

Hi Dave,

Do you plan on updating your website to reflect the changes in the kit from 167 to 180hp? Your website still says 167hp.

So far on the Asphalt its only a few tenths difference but it is 0ne to 1.5 mph in the quarter mile. Based on what I can tell it does make a difference but may need to be fine tuned depending how and where you are testing.
Whats the angle of your helix start to finish , how many gram weights are you running ,i been running an overdrive and polaris/yamaha clutch kit for ten years now these motors rock when you unleash the power

Thats exactly right. We are machining the clutches fir overdrive so that we can gear down. This gives alot more mid range and about 2-3mph on top end in 1/4 mile. We spent a whole day testing this on radar

I understand the kit and what you are saying. I looked at the kit but didn't see any gear. so if I buy the kit do I need to drop to a 22 from the stock 23 on 2011 apex?

FYI The 128 Apex sleds come with a 24 tooth top gear, not a 23. The 144 (XTX) sleds come with the 23.

yes I'm aware. I had a 24,23 and 22 on my 128 and I found the 22 spun like mad. so I was wondering if they dropped to a 22 on the short track with a lack of traction. but thanks

Is there anything to be gained by doing just the air box mod without the programmer or am i lookin for a too lean issue?
