Hurricane turbo intake upgrade

Hard to believe. Lets see the graph before and after? 10hp in what RPM range.
Number 43 in this pic. If I understand Dave's picture the replacement is the left hand side of that tube. Since the diameter is smallest there, the implication is that the coupler or coupler interface is either a restriction or a source of a ton of turbulence leading to inefficiency. The further implication is that Yamaha left 10HP on the table (stock) since that replacement tube has zero effect on emissions, engine health or fuel economy. hrmm indeed.

Yes, I'm very hopeful someone comes on here to take lead on this situation.
I can't imagine Dave doing this to deceive us out of $120.

I'll include Dave's response ASAP.

Seems like it’s pretty new because I don’t see it on there site. Might be awhile before we get real world information from users in the field

Agree, even if it came in tomorrow, there is no way I'm tearing my sled apart again. Lol. I'm too ready & it's getting cold!

Okay, for those of you who know Dave he asked that I call him. Lol.
Dave's been making this type of product for his pro-mod sled for a little bit now. He didn't want to move the turbo so he decided to straighten the air path to the turbo. It will come with the part shown Plus a silicone coupler which will be clamped onto the intake hose and to the turbo inlet. Pretty straightforward. Power increase is exponential, the more boost, the more power you will see. Dave is speculating 5-6hp in the 250hp range.
But Dynoed 10hp increase @ 300hp.
His web page will be updated on Monday.

Anyone that has had that tube off knows it’s very restrictive where it goes behind the steering shaft.

At 300 horsepower you will not feel 10 added horsepower so you have to go on trust and Dave seems to be a real stand up guy unlike some in this industry. Whats another buck twenty to the already out of control money pit that puts a smile on your face we all crave…

Never understood why they couldn't find a better way to get air from airbox to turbo. Ie - different air duct, move steering shaft (somehow) to get a straighter inlet to turbo.

I'd really like to see the data (dyno data). If you've got nothing to hide, you can and will publish it.
I like Dave too but at the end of the day, he's running a "for profit" business that relys on sales.
If/when he pulishes data, I'd feel better about the 10 HP.
And, I'd like to see the dyno cell environmental data. Don't run stock tube at 90F, then run this new part at 30F.

Why doesn't anyone make a tube from cold air filter to turbo?
Huh?!?! Lol...this is Dave's supplemental way of giving you just that.
Earthling left a diagram. You basically cut appx five inches off the part 43. And replace it with Dave's new and improved turbo tube outlet.
To my knowledge when the factory inlet tube meets the turbo inlet you have like a 2 to 3mm step at the seal, inside the tube
I'm sure all of us agree that seal lip could easily cause turbulence. Thus the reason we port match/gasket match all of our intake & exhaust parts, It's really no big speed secret.
I say kudos to Dave for even wanting to bring this miniscule dollar amount part to market.
Think about it in terms of gross revenue in running a successful business. This part isn't going to keep him fed. Wouldn't even help to pay for the toilets when they're being flushed.
5/10 ponies plausible?!?! It sure can't hurt you.
