I've used the reverse trick a few times winter 2009.

never herd of the reverse trick but i usually just loosen the track off a little bit and put a pipe wrench on the hifax and pop it off. works pretty slick

Another thing when installing the new try cutting a slight taper on the front and back of the sliders. This will make it alot easier to start it though the track window as well as easier to remove. Taper it back about an inch on both ends, this way you can change them without even having to loosen your track tension.
I also bought a set of the Tric scrathers and mounted them on sway bar, these do make a big difference.

I agree Rayman, its easy to just pull the skid and look over it.

I pull skid to change mine. I don't know how else to do it. The track window is smaller than the hyfax. Definetly don't wanna cut one window larger so hyfax can slide out

You don't have to cut the window it flexes enough to get the slider in and out. took me about 40 mins to do both sides taking my time. I didn't use the reverse cause I made a tool which is like a slide hammer just pulled them out. also when I put them back in I used a bit of antizise and grease on the inside of the slider so next time no worries.

im just posting to this because it was most recent hyfax question.
Well i just changed my hyfax and adjusted my track. Went out for a ride today and could smell rubber burning... any ideas what it could be?

Before you run the track in reverse make sure the front of the hyfax didn't peel loose from the rail when you take the screw out. The hyfax will be pulled into the drivers if it's not seated up to the rail cap. And, that's not fun.

we did one the other day, was in the shop on crane, so didn't want to start it for reverse. was able to pull slide and roll track reverse at same time. very easy
