i always keep an "impact" screwdriver on hand. the kind you hit with a hammer as it rotates. they are handy for frozen-up crews.

Know your aready done, but I'm with these guys I build my own slide hammer with a replacable deck screw for pulling. Add WD-40 and they come out in a minute. Love the reverse thing!

My slide hammer kit has replacement adjusting screw for Vice Grips. Basically, put this screw into the Vice Grips, clamp onto the hyfax, screw the slide hammer into the screw and start whacking. Used that with my old Safaris.
But, the reverse trick is just too easy and works so well.
