Bent mine and never hit a thing, same as my neighbor. Both were replaced under warranty. Your dealer bent yours and replaced it at the same time as ours. I checked over some on the showroom floor when ours were being replaced, and some were showing signs of being out of spec, brand new sleds with no kms on them. So far though, my 2010 MTX SE is still like new, and I'm hoping it stays that way

I guess i will find out how much they are on monday, looks like i will get one in the US since our dollar is up and i can save a few hundred...i can't believe they get away with price differences like that...

I don't know how Yamaha gets away with it..there admitting theres a problem by making or trying to make them stronger every year..there should be a recall on them. Gonna take it nice an easy on my sled this winter to try and keep everything straight..lol,I guess it doesn't matter what Brand you drive they all have there issues.

Yamaha should pay attention to a basic tubular structure building and use some common sense. Using flat sheet metal as little as possible, using smaller angle degrees than 90 on welded joints and adding some counter force against the force that is bending the structure.
Nytro is a very rigid and strong machine besides that sub frame. I personally would rather change A-arms than the whole sub frame.

This bending subframe issue is the number one reason, I would not buy a current fx nytro, even though its time to upgrade from my 06 rs nytro. (That and the fact that the fx is really no lighter than the rs nytro.)
The sno-x race nytro had a cast bulkhead subframe. I'm sure yamaha didn't tool up the castings just for a handful of race sleds. Its just a matter of when it comes.

I've been reading lots of posts on another forum about mountain riders complaining about bending the a-arms on their Pro-RMK's. To me, that is a good design. I'd rather replace an a-arm than a sub frame.
I've twisted the a-arms on one side of my sled from a high speed wreck. My subframe is still straight. I don't think the subframe is a weak as some people claim. These newer sleds (a brands) don't hold up to impact damage as well as the older models. The 90's a-arm Cats used a steel bulkhead. The trailing arm sleds were all pretty tough. We all want lighter weight sleds and with lighter weight comes a decrease in durability.

thats true..but if there expected to bend make them affordable for everyone..even $450 US is alot for what you may as well call a wear item...$800 Canadian is just Crazy!AKrider said:I've been reading lots of posts on another forum about mountain riders complaining about bending the a-arms on their Pro-RMK's. hey I did that last year, but the sway bar mount put a hole in my oil pan. What a mess, put a new subframe on and welded the oil pan because i could not find one. Then I ended up taking subframe off this past summer because the weld had a hair line crack in it and leaked. Just check things over before you put it back together.

Shouldn't need any ! And they are a weak design, otherwise Yamaha wouldn't be replacing them for free, not to mention redesigning them and making them stronger. Some guys were bending them when loading them on their trailers. Myself, I only ride soft snow, deep powder and drifts, and my 08 bent for no reason. The subframe on my 08 was replaced under warranty and now looks the same as on my 10, but I think the 10 is reinforced even more from what I've read on here.

I don't get why some of these bend so easy, and ones like mine hold up. My sled gets ridden hard, and as of late been double jumping it on my mx track, and straight as a arrow.

I wonder if the RTX's have more of a problem with bent SubFrames then XTX's and regular models?

I got mine from cycle parts nation, it is 410 bucks, and shipping was about 60-70, then had to pay GST and all that stuff when it arrived for another 70 bucks or so, and it was delivered pretty quick.
Thing is the MSRP in the states is like 540, but they lower the price to get you to buy it. Any canadian dealer has MSRP of 830 ish, but none of them will deal or lower their price. I bought it in the states out of priciple mostly.........

Last one I bent on my XTX. I didn't hit too hard.
I went over a snow covered log at the side of the trail at slow speed with RH ski. I saw it coming and was on the brakes, didn't hurt the ski much at all.
Bent the lower arm and sub frame. It was far too easy.
