How big of a job is it to remove sub-frame?

subframe

Is this more common on'08 model? Seems more commonbased on what i read. Not sure if '09 corrected it...

I removed my sub-frame today! It looks a lot worse to take out than it actually is....it wasn't too bad. Now it's time to order Grizztracks gusset kit!

I am mad at Raginyamaha for posting pics of his red sub-frame. Now I HAVE to powdercoat mine blue! More money! Thanks Ragin..

I hope I will remember how to put it all back together...

Always willing to help out........

Get a Mountain Tech Ind (Roest) skid at the same time but use weldnuts in the Grizz plate. Easiest to do it while the subframe is being welded anyways.

Where do I find a link for the Grizztracks stuff. I found the photo bucket site with pictures of the installation? It sure looks like a good deal.

My GRIZZ kit is in the mail!

Just a quick question regarding powdercoating a sub-frame vs. painting. I understand coating is a hundred times better on a-arms because they are exposed, but the subframe is not. Would painting with a spray can of rust paint and a clear coat be good enough? I am just looking for cost savings because my costs are escalating.

Now thanks to Mewaschuk I have to get a Roest skid plate.

Since parking my sled in the garage, I had only anticipated doing oilite bushings....that's it. Now, I am doing this:

JRE spindles on order
Grizztracks gusset kit on order
Hire welder to install kit
OFT relocator coming soon
Powdercoating a-arms, bumper
Custom Slydog Powder Hounds coming soon
New balljoints on order
Order Ulmer oilite bushings

Roest skid plate...hmmmm
UPbushmans spindle bushing kit....hmmmm
Lake Effect Risers.....hmmmm
Powdercoat subframe.....hmmmm

Where does it end? This site and it's members are causing me to go bankrupt!

Powder coating looks good but doesn't improve performance. I'd concentrate on performance and protection mods first. The Roest skid plate and spindle bushing should be on top of your list. I wouldn't run without the Roest skid plate and the UP bushman bushing kit is a good alternative to the Yamaha bushings when they wear out.

Powder coating will hold up better but painting the sub frame is fine. That is what i did, had the frame painted (by a industrial company that my dad works at) and powder coated the a arms and spindles. My frame looks great yet. I dont know what kind of riding you do but i would get the roest plate before skis. How tall are you? I put on just a relocator and it was perfect for positioning. If i put a riser on there is no way to sit and ride, would be ape hangers and im 6'3". Im going to get the bushmans ski bushings this summer as the ones i got from ulmers didnt last that long this year.

I thought the same thing about this site last summer, modding is highly addictive while surfing this site haha but also extremely fun too. Alot of great mods that DO help the nytro but you dont need every single one you read about. The ones on your list are a great start!

Ya the JRE spindles are for a nytro in general the spindles work on all the models however the rear lowering is only figured out for the xtx... They work great too even if you don't lower the rear. I have a set in black with about 300 miles on them with UPBUSHMAN's ski bushings for sale if anybody is interested.
