Do I need to install the tunnel protection on my heat exchanger with the I-grip screw in stud tips? Or will they be okay. I would like to think there is enough clearance from the heat exchanger to the track considering they are just the tip on top of the lugs. anyone running these without the protectors?

I did, to me its easy to install and not worth the risk. The only way they would hit is maybe a hard tail landing.

I did not and thus far no issues. If one pulls out I’m not sure if they are large enough to do damage. They are pretty small and work well IMO for what they are. Just enough grip...

How many did you put in? Any pull outs?

Just short of 200 using a 5,4,4 pattern. I have a Viper 129 inch track. Zero pull outs. I'd think a stone would have a better chance of doing damage vs. these.

Funny but I "had" 160 in my 1.6" camp track and about 20% are gone and 2 actually pierced the mud flap thread point first impaling them in the flap.

But the durometer of that track is a lot softer than the ripsaw.

Which size did you use?

boy its been 4 yrs now I do not remember. I do know I am hard on the sled and that track now has over 6,000 miles on it with boost pushing the hp to around 265 and a very large right thumb!:sled1:

I called right to Igrip and she told me what to use. 25mm, not including the carbide and the diameter of the threads is 6.6mm

I would never run them riding like u. That’s just foolish.

I talked to local dealer he said he runs a 1.5" pre-stud track on his winder with no protection and has not had so much as a nick in his heat exchanger in 2 seasons. So I feel I will be okay. I would just throw them in but I have no intentions at this time to run conventional studs so I would rather not spend the money on something I don't need. Thanks for the replies.

I have not put in the Igrips yet but I intend to. While in getting plugs changed, my hands are too big to get at them, I mentioned to the service manager about the Igrips and tunnel protection. He said they don't use the kit. They put teflon the same as your rail slides. It comes in a long piece that they cut in three to length. It has a profile suited for the aluminum channel. They then crimp the end of the channel so it doesn't come out. I think it cost like $28.

Has anybody installed I-grips with traditional studs? I have 144 traditional studs now and I’m running the TD max spool 16, would like a little more grip.
