Yeeaaaa!!!! Another year of the same old thing. Oh, at least we can get warm hands, that's IF anybody's actually going to trade. Seems to me, Yamaha doesn't really care if they sell an Apex or not. There are so many left overs now. I guess they think that they should wait until all the present Apex's are sold. Maybe, there will be some late breaking news about a new
Apex model. Well, this just shows you how much Yamaha cares about their higher end customers. On a lighter note, that 126 hp 3 banger Apex sounds nice. At least your wife or girl gets an upgrade.

I think it has a lot to do with our ECONOMY situation lets face it its not in the best of shape for either side of border or worldwide, lots of people losing jobs, homes, pension plans down the tubes and banks getting a lot tougher to borrow from...I think that they'll wait for the dust to settle and then make a move, I've notice that thers a lot less SLEDDERS out and about on the trails and it cost a lot of MONEY to produce a new sled platform without knowing if theirs anyone to buy or afford them, look at the 2010 models how they've INCREASED in $$$ for example a APEX LTX GT $17099.00 CDN msrp + taxes your looking at $19.322.00 for a SLED!!! this is just CRAZY... but some of us will still buy them! I think YAM are just playing it safe and sitting it out and see how the compitition is going to react...the APEX is doing very well performance wise its not fastest out their but will give the COMPITITION a run for its MONEY!!! I wouldn't want to be a "FAT CAT" Z1 turbo owner and be challenged and beat or kept up with a 150hp naturaly aspiered sled when they have a TURBO 170hp plus and claim to be the fastest on the snow...I'd rip the decal's off my "FAT CAT" and paint it LEMON YELLOW LOL! don't get me wrong I'm not bashing any mfg I'm just trying to get a point accross, YAM are just waiting to see how CAT is going to get of this 1...I'm talking stock form out of he box.Lets just hope that our economy situation rebounds quick and we start seeing some JOBS being created and get the big wheel turning again!

Everybody knows the American economy is in bad shape, but it could take 2-3 years, just to see it start to come out of it. Are we supposed to wait that long for a new sled?

Lets not forget, the 2010 sleds were being R&D during good economic times if you believe that a new sled takes 2-4 years to develop. Sure bringing the product to the consumer will cost more money which Yamaha may not want to do at this time, but the effects of holding back truly new product because of the economy is poor business management IMO. If the product is ready, you have to start reaping the rewards through sales. If it sits on the shelf for a year before it is introduced to the consumer, well it is a year old already.
I would think that the new products are just not ready for the consumers and Yamaha needs more time to develop and improve things even more.

The more a particular model changes, or the more a new model deviates from the old, the longer the development cycle. The Apex is still competitive within its market, and the snowdrifts are shifting in the 2 stroke vs 4 stroke wars. Maybe the new Yamaha will be an ultra lightweight HPDI 2 stroke. They already use the technology in their marine engines. Not to say they'd dump the 4 stroke idea (I hope they don't) but they could go to a multi-engine platform like doo.

- 2016 RS Vector XTX 1.25 Lug wifes..2013 RS Vector LTX.. 2003 600 VMax Past Machines 3-2007 Attaks 1-2010 Vector LTX.. sorry no Stinkdoos or poo's cats.
The best thing a manufactor can do is to keep improveing their line. This what Yamaha seems to have done. Improved drive sprockets, rails, suspension, etc. Yami is makeing a awesome snowmachine now. Down the line these 1010's will be running strong long after 2010 Doo,Cat,etc.
Like ScubaPro Regulators and BC's .Other companys would keep coming out with a new design with bells and whistles and always have problems never perfected. ScubaPro would improve the design each year and make it retro active alot as well. Thus they are the best Scuba Gear on the market. Reliable and easy breathing.
No way are they going to 2 stroke. They will capture even more of the market these next few years. This is what most people want now.

I disagree. If yamaha doesn't fix the bugs and make decent improvements EVERY year, they will lose market share to the other brands. They are not on top right now and will not be if they don't step it up.
As said before, these sleds are designed well ahead of time. Small things change before production models, but not major things. Hell, did they even test the handwarmers, headlight aim, bogey wheels, etc? They can't just fix the handwarmers and change paint colors and say "good enuff for 2010." That will not entice new buyers....which won't make them any money, nor will it encourage them to make improvements for the next year.
It's a downward spiral. Look what happened to polaris....if you disappoint your customers it's hard to get them back. I have had people ride my sled and not want to get back on it just because they froze their hands...that's pretty sad.

i agree with most of what is said. the other issue is price, especially if you are canadian, the prices are ridiculous ! i feel they need to work on getting that price down or at least some major rebate/snowcheck programs in place that make a 15-20% difference. i almost choked on price of my 07 attak, now look at 2010. that's nuts.
