I am reading the posts and see all these calls for Yamaha to make the APEX a better ditch banger or A whole new sled for ditch banging. :o| :o|

MY 47 year old brain 'on auto pilot' says, why? LaLaLa
I used to love to ride like that, hit every bump in the ditches of southern mn and jump the approaches.
Now I dream of rides of 200 plus miles where the trails are smooth, I can jump some 'rises' and ride the tail down the hill. Now I even complain if the trails get rough in the afternoon or if I have to cross a road. Man I remember some of those bumps were culverts, discarded wheels, airconditioners etc. and the bump would mean, crash, bend and break of the sled and 'me'.

I guess my choices of why I have changed are 2, 1. I am getting older, or 2. I am spoiled by the groomed trails of the north shore. I think both.

Any one else "CHANGING" riding preferences.

Anytime I hear ditch and bang in the same sentence I get sore. I like to go up and down every now and again but tight and twisty is the way for me.

All I can say is......
APEX GT, the Cadillac of sleds. :D

I am with you yamadoo, 37 and I like em smooth. 300 miles of flat, groomed, smooth trails is awesome. 100 miles of the rough sucks. Thats why I like to ride in the middle of the week.

I jump everything I can find..carve like crazy..I've done that on an 04 RX, an 05 RX and shortly and Apex...maybe an F7 is better at it..I'll never know. It's 90% rider anyways...and around these parts there's always a lake not too far away.

I am with you. Nothing like a freshly groomed trail winding thru the forest. Not looking forward to burying the Apex in a snowbank. I can hardly lift the rear to get the wheel set under it. It is one heavy sled to move in the garage. Put a request to Santa for a lift kit for Cmas.

yamadoo

yamadoo your getting older and wiser,i have been riding for 38 years
and for many years took a real beating, i'm a large person so i'll take
smooth trails, if i go out and there real bad i turn around come back
and do some clucthing.

Right on! Doktor C ;)!
:die DITCHES :die Lake Approaches :die Drifts&Drop-offs
:die the competition!
Slowing down as I get older, going more for long distance XC but still like to drop the hammer for 10-20% of each ride. Ditch Banging is the current hot segment where a manufacturer can sell an image sled and generate dealer traffic. As long as ditch sleds still handle well on high-speed sweepers, I'm ok with the change.

To Quote the imortal words of STC: you'll win the race, you'll see her face and you'll know that she must feel you've got a real, good snowmobile. Life can be real, on a snowmobile.

I have a few friends that went to tug hill this weekend and rode 2 to 3 ft moguls with 2 apexes and a rev 800.They say they enjoy this but are bitchin for a week about pains in their backs, legs etc. I really don't get it....Give me the smooth trails anyday.

I like to catch air whenever I can, but I like the twisties too. Of course, Im only 25, so my body can take 200 miles a day of getting bounced around without any problems.
Its kind of funny that they call those kinds of sleds, "ditch bangers" because in a lot of states riding the ditches is illegal.

I have 460 miles og ditch banging on my nytro , i prefer jumping and twisting trails, when i get older i think ill move to the smooth trails
