I put Mobil 0-30W in before the season started and went about 500 miles and was down a quart. I put int he required 3.2 quarts on a full change. Is this right? I don't see any oil in my EVAC or have any smoking out the tailpipes so what could it be? Do I need to have my valves lashed or what? If so how hard is this to do or should I have a mechanic do it. the sled has 3300 miles on it and way too few for the problems I have had.
I need some help guy's anyone wanna make some money by giving her a good once over??

With a filter change the manual lists 3.8 liters. Sounds like you started out .6 liters low.

Here is something that I previously posted:
I noticed when first starting the engine on my 04 Warrior after a day of riding anywhere from 200 to 300 miles on the previous day and letting it warm up 10 minutes or so that the oil level was low So I added several ounces of oil to bring the level up. I did this for two days in a row. And after this I tried something different At the end of a day of riding sometimes more than 300 miles I would than check the oil and it was full I did this for the next few days at the end of the ride and it remained full What's up with that??

Our group has typically 5000 to 8200 miles on our 05's and no oil at all. Dan's 04 warrior has about 19,000 and doesn't use oil. We all use Yamaha new 0-30 oil and change at about 2000 miles.
I know of 2 guys that use oil at 1 qt per 400 miles but they are clutched to run 10,500. Both remover the EVAC and clutching and stopped using oil.
My turbo uses oil when I am running on and playing on lakes.

That could be it since I was doing some high speed runs across the lakes with my ECP and clutching setup.

ummm yes I did and she was full. I did change the filter and I did let her run for about 7-8 minutes also to warm her up.

Ya need to let these things run AT LEAST 15 minutes before checking the oil. Otherwise it will show low.

At about 8 minutes she shut down from temp rising. So I figured she was warm enough. When I did it it was about 80 degrees outside.Thumper1000 said:Ya need to let these things run AT LEAST 15 minutes before checking the oil. Otherwise it will show low.

It seems like any sustained operation above 9000 RPMs causes these engines to use oil

Just came back from 4 days riding over 1100mi. The warrior took .8 quart.
So can anyone tell me if this is normal? I've done over 6000mi. with it so far and this is the first time I'm adding oil between oil changes... I'm starting to think that oil comsuption could directly be link to How hard you are driving it.
