honestly i use 500 ml of oil in about 5500 km last season with the old 5w-30 yam oil. This season, use oil since first oil change and when i said use, i use, i put oil level to mid, and the oil light came in at the end of almost every run, and oil is semi-synt 0w-30 yam.
The next oil i will buy is 5w-30 and i will see if it make difference.

No oil use last year on Yammi 5-30. 3000 km
This year 2000 km so far on the 0-30 Semi and she is down a quart.
I have a quart of the 5-30 in my spares box from last year.
I assume it is OK to top up with this and that the two will mix ok.
Any comments from you lube experts?

Blue,
when Brian beats you again, I'm sure you'll think of another excuse.

Yes you can mix Petroleum oil with Semi or Synthetic!
The Yamaha Semi is already a mixture of Petroleum and Synthetic Oil!

I have an 03. Dont know how previous owner broke in, but machine was mint.. Put Mobil 1 0/40 in this fall. With 700 miles so far no oil usage. My first experience with Mobil 1 but I think I will stick with it...

I have 1400 on my 05 RX-1er and it has used no oil so far. At 1000 miles I put in 0w-30 and it is at the same level.

For what it is worth, I think the 0-30 is too thin. Why would you go to a thinner oil when going to synthetic?
My experience is as follows:
'04 Warrior ridden moderately most of the time with consistent full throttle blasts - but no real runs at extended WOT since we have no riding areas for that in Vermont.
Yamaha oil for 1st oil change which I continued to run 'till 1900mi. Switched to Mobil 1 (5w-30) and now have 3500+ miles. No oil used.

First off you know he didn't beat me but I will email a picture of my belt........its junk. I am pretty certain once my motor got lined up it wore my already used belt in another direction making it nasty glazed and chunks a missin......is that good enough excuse? I noticed you never wanted to line them up By the way thanks bud for the hospitality at your place. It sure is nice and peaceful and very much like a home. You should be proudRX1 Yooper said:Blue,

I use the 5W-30 Mobil 1 and lately I have been using a ton of oil, about the same as Yamablue, almost a quart in about 500 miles!! We do alot of WOT(at least I do), I know that has alot to do with it, but it just seems like too much! Sled runs great...so Im not gonna mess with it, just keep oil in it!!

My Vector has had the Yamalube 0W 30 in it since day one. This is what I still have in it after my first oil change. At 1340 miles, I have seen no noticable oil loss. I'm not afraid of the fun flipper either.

Did you pull your carbs at the time of your oil change to do a clean and tune???I am not questioning the job done then but really wonder if the TPS was checked afterwards....

I totally agree with Bob Miller on this one. I have found that checking the oil at the END of the day makes a huge difference. As I have said in other posts, I have an 03 RX with 5000 miles on it and have never added a drop of oil, other than scheduled changes.

Me too. I was checking the oil after a 10 min warmup as the manual says and it was down before every run. I have 1000 miles since checking AFTER each run, hasn't dropped a bit.

Well here is a difference then because when your oil light comes on after 400 miles in the middle of the day of running her hot and she say's low like not even on the stick then she's low. Obviously they are all different.Duane said:I totally agree with Bob Miller on this one. I have found that checking the oil at the END of the day makes a huge difference.
