I noticed the steering boots have a lot of ice in them sometimes making the steering difficult. How do you clear them out? Is this the steering issue some have talked about?

Does anybody have an suggestions to help quiet the sled down when riding? It seems to have a lot of "riding" noise. Make sense???

Thanks for the help.

So far 102.2 miles and all is good. Sled runs great and it fun to bust drifts with. It is such a natural sled to stand on when busting the drifts.

have u had the steering update to it? its a safety update and needs to be done. it has new bolts, nuts, clips and rubber boots i think to stop ice and snow from getting into where the steering block is.

Not sure. I bought it used. I took it in and they did the fan update but did not say anything about the steering issue. I will be contacting them Monday.

Is there a way to tell? A picture maybe of the update???

Thanks!

there should be a punch mark right next to ur vin number on ur tunnel but they do one for every update they do. so if u have the fan u should have atleast 2. theres also the starter, link and i think one more update for the 07. best way to check is to have the VIN run by the dealer and it will tell them what has or needs to be done.

Mine appears to have three punch marks. One on each side of the VIN and one on top of the VIN and to the left.

I took it in the Fall and had the fan installed and they never said anything about other updates. I will check tomorrow. Does anybody have a picture of the updated "look"?

doesnt relay look any differnt then the orginal. just differnt nuts and cotter pins too keep them from lossening up. im not sure what else comes in the kit.

MNUser,

I have gone for just a few rides so far on the 08 RTX I bought. I have noticed the "riding" noise you mentioned. I closed the rear tunnel hole with the Yamaha kit, but riding off trail in alot of powder on Friday and Saturday, the sled had a ton of ice build up. I do not know if some of the noise is from the track rubbing against the ice build up. The noise had me thinking I did not have the airbox on the throttle bodies completely or a loose exhaust donut. I have double checked the airbox, but may have to pull the seat/ tank and check the dounts. The sled only has a little over 300 miles on it. I am also thinking I need to close the front tunnel hole due to the amount of ice build up I am getting. I put the sled in the heated garage last night and still had alot of ice to get off this morning. Does anyone have recommendations on closing the front tunnel hole? What will the dealer think of this?

there is also black rubber inserts that fit into the empty void to the left and to the right of the air box. oh and also a metal reinfoced piece that goes into the front behind the front bumper

I closed my front but I highly doubt dealer will do it.Way to much risk of overheating tank involved. That said its my second season since closing it.No issues at all.

Cannondale,

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if the dealer may give me any grief about closing the front hole if I have any warranty issues or if I purchase a YES warranty. Also, thanks for the great write up for pulling the front end and doing the oil filter and starter. I took care of all that a couple of weeks ago. Any tips for closing the front hole other than rivet on some aluminum.

Thanks again
