Got an apex gt 06 with pilot skis and was wonderi g if anyone has tried these scratchers. Do they need to be removed before going into reverse and also what about crossing railway crossings.
They are the ones that look like a bolt about 3"long with no threads and a hole in one end for a pin and go through a hole you drill in the trailling edge of each ski. These could be easilly built just wondering if they are a install and forget or a constant pain

Do yourself a favor and buy Straightline Cable scratchers.. they are so so nice... mount then on your rail up near the front wheels.. they never break ..I never worry about them they go into the trailer down and out of the trailer down.. amazing... I tried the other brand cable ones and they aren't good.. SL is the best.

I tried the longer ones and found they don't bite down into the snow / ice well. The shorter ones will have much more tension downward for scratching the ice..sorry about the delay in posting. I don't get emails from TY for some reason.

If you have a LTX you can mount them in the now bolt hole just behind the wheels up towards the front. Take the current bolt out and drill it out just a shade more to 3/8" size.
These are awesome.. my wife and I leave them down all day.. had the other brands and they weren't good. We load and unload into the trailer, shed etc. no issues with them down all the time.. We hang them up on the rail when not using them.
