X2 on the amsoil , 07 apex with all the original bearings. Clean all bearings at the end of each season re-pack for next season.
If the WD-40 you're using isn't cleaned out, that'll delute your grease and spit it out too.

I tell people this quite often, don't use it as a summer storage spray unless you plan on regreasing all you bogey bearings and the like!

I use a silicone based spray but I am also careful not to spray my bogey wheels or other bearing areas.

Ok, I'm alittle late to the game but exactly what is the best way to pack sealed bearings? I go thru idler wheels like socks!

Sealed as in plastic caps on both sides or the steel caps?

If plastic, use a very small screwdriver or dental pick and gently pry the seal off one side.
Either add grease or clean out the old stuff then just re-apply.

Also be careful not to add too much as it will just spew out, the seal should go back on and seat, if you have to force it, then you have too much grease.

Thanks for the tip! I guess I don't know which wheels I have but its an 07 Apex GT. They are up at the cottage so I'll check when I get up there. But if I understand correctly, I just hand-pack em' after I get the cap off? I've heard some people use a needle greaser or something like that. Would that be for the steel caps to which you referred?

Sorry, didn't see the idler wheel part the first time I read your post.
With idlers, they should all be plastic sealed.

Imo, if your bearings are bad, just replace them with new bearings.

I regreased about half or slightly more of mine but did replace a few as they were too far gone imo. (Bearings are cheap)

I use a lucas grease engineered for cv joints.
its green but i cant remember the actual name.
I have never ever had any bearing fail on anything i have used that grease on . but to be fair most bearings on my sled are regreased every season and thrown out after 3 seasons.
this can be a little evpensive but like i said i never had a failure so im sticking with my grease and my system

I'm sure glad they are starting with replaceable bearings now instead of having to change out all the wheels first

Replaced all my 08 wheels with 2010's, still ticks me off Yamaha had wheels like this in the first place! (Can you say money grab! :o| )

I use Kendall Super Blu for my skid-suspension, trailer wheel bearing buddys, PTO and jackshaft bearings as well as my idler wheels. Comes in a tube for your grease gun and a tub for adding to bearing packer and palm grease gun with needle. Just use a pick and remove seal and add grease into cage/race area around ball bearings.
