I was going to ask something similar as my riding buddy bought a used 18 Doo renegade back country 146"x1.6"x15" that was a rental up in Houghton, anyhow the track was supposed to be an ice cobra with the pre molded studs, but it is neither an ice cobra or a non studded cobra, it's a cobra track with the hole's already in it to accept the studs and camso won't sell him or the dealer more than a few replacement studs which is bs, hopefully these Igrips will work for him.
You will have to call them on this, they actually make a special stuff that will go in those holes for that track.

Sorry for the dumb question but I have never had a studded sled. I know you need tunnel protectors for studs. Is it recommended to have tunnel protectors for these or is it not necessary?

So if I cut down my 1.75 Backcountry to 1.5 as I have seen others on here do. And install the correct I Grip screw in studs do I need tunnel protectors. Thanks for your info on these studs I have been looking at this solution for a while as I watched my wife go down a small mountain trail and almost go into the woods. I had to pass her and yell no brake as I went by to avoid her spinning off the trail into a tree. It was pure Ice!Yes I would not take the risk with that track.

Should already have tunnel protectors and you would have to shave the track down just to clear them. I would add rear protection over the heat exchanger just in case it gets tail landed but normally these should not touch it.

How many would you recommend to install on a 2011 Apex XTX with the stock 1.25" track?

4 per row, should be about 228- if that's a 144 track with 2.52 pitch. should have about 57 places. I would get a few extra

The key is to pilot drill with 1/16th bit and make sure they are straight. Take your time.

I hate to do it because I was a strong supporter of iGrips however I have to share my experience...I put mine on last year (Ripsaw II 1.25") and took my time and did it properly by predrilling, sunk them to the correct depth in the lug, made sure they went in straight. I put on about 2500km last year and they destroyed my track. Cracked, torn ripped lugs everywhere. I put in traditional studs at the end of last year and just took out all the iGrips this fall. I don't know if that track is too soft or what I may have done wrong at install but I can't recommend these at least for the track I have.

I would never put Igrips in that track, there is not enough lug to support them and it WILL destroy the track.
TC_027, if you have a rip saw or rip saw 2 , I would NOT Igrip that track. Sorry I should have been more clear when I was answering your questions.
