Yamaha RE-tooling for 2020

Yeah but why isn’t cat using it too?
Some people have speculated that Cat is holding back on announcing its 4-stroke line-up until the Yamaha reveal. If it is the same old Pro Cross, or some variation, and the only new aspect of the sled is the Yamaha 998, that would make some sense. With the apparent commercial success of the Ski Doo 900 and 900T, it's hard to believe that Yamaha and Cat are giving up on NA 4-strokes. I am just trying to stay positive, and believe that something new is coming. A NA 998 in an updated Pro Cross chassis would be new, and it would give the Ski Doo 900 a run for its money, particularly if Yamaha is the one choosing the ECU, and not Cat.

Sure if the NA 998 was 150 hp but not likely and I don’t care for 100hp ACE. I understand where you’re going with these thoughts put my understanding is the 998 would need a turbo or super charger to get to 150 hp or more and cost would be high. With many 7000s in inventory not sure about Vipers it seems counterproductive to to offer anything in the 130 ish hp segments or below. Also nothing inexpensive regarding the ACE 900 so not opening up an economy sled market either for Yamaha. Plus going up against the new gen 4 with old pro cross turbo or NA would be a ruff road to hoe. The sale potential is for Yamaha to have their new platform with eps to fill both 100 and 150 hp markets.

If Yamaha could get a 100-120 hp out of the NA 998, and put it in a Pro-Cross chassis with EPS, I will put my money down on a spring order tomorrow. My wife loves the EPS on her 2013 Vector, but she wants the rider forward position of the Pro Cross. An EPS Pro Cross would be perfect.

Could the na-998 be the Apex 150 hp 4 holer? That is what my Apex is, na-998

I think there IS in fact a new 2 stroke engine coming from Yamaha.
What I do NOT know is if it will be in a Yamaha sled or not...

Lets hope not, that sled was overpriced and doomed from the get go, Polaris power-plant to top that off. No we do not need 1300cc, insurance would be insane.

I really hope they bring that sled to Canada. I would get one no question.

That skid in the two tone blue machine in the picture looks different, or is it snow build up i'm looking at.
