Going to install starter savers on 2 of my Vectors. I would like to hear from people who have installed these on their Vectors or Apex.
These are some of the questions that I would like to get answers on.
(1) Do you put a fuse in-line & if so what size
(2) Do you put the wires from the light to the battery in a plastic split wire loom
(3) I would like to see the light at all times when riding, where is the best place to mount the light
(4) Since the wires are continuous from the light to the battery do you install a connector for it so you can
disconnect the wires when removing any of the instrument panels where the light will be installed.

I need to do this to my two Vectors . If you figure out the best way. Please post it up. My starter is gone on my 09 and I'm getting that lazy Summer, No sledding action Going ....

Connect RED starter sver wire to the large Black lead on the solenoid. The Blacck lead on the solenoid connect directly to the starter, this is the one you want.
Connect BLACK STARTER SAVER WIRE TO AN APPROPFRIATE GROUND BOLT. OOps ,cap lock. The only time led comes on is when starting sled,If it comes on any other time there is a problem.
This is a short paraphrase of instructions that came with my kit from yamaheater for Nytro. My wires look just like pic above.

ok, this is how i wired the ones on all sleds i have installed them on a sled is how saskattack has done them. i mounted the led next to the ignition switch and when i need to remove the panel it just pushes out from the bulb holder. no fuses or extra connections required.

You said, when you remove the panel it just pushes out from the bulb holder. Are you saying the bulb get's pulled out of the bulb holder from the rear.

Also I just want you to know you really don’t need to be able to see the light all the time—— you just need to pay attention to it when you start your sled— when you start the sled the light will light up and slowly go off as the starter stops spinning—- if it stays on you know your starter is stuck on—- your starter is not going to just come on while riding if you have confirmed it went off after starting

On my Attak, I have the starter saver light on the right side small dash panel and the Yamaheater light on the left side small dash panel. No fuses required and I just flip these panels to the side when working on sled so I never have to disconnect them.

You said, when you remove the panel it just pushes out from the bulb holder. Are you saying the bulb get's pulled out of the bulb holder from the rear.
i have mine in the hump by the ignition switch and when i have to pull that pannel, i just push the bulb out of the holder carefully and reinstall when done under it.

Hi Rich!
All the answers above are good!
1) The circuit that powers the LED it is only live when you are are starting your sled. (If everything is wired & working correctly)
2) The loom is a good idea. : )
3) Just make sure you can see it when you are riding. That way if you have/had an issue, you would notice it.
(As Tod mentioned, mainly when you start your sled pay attention to it)
4) As others pointed out, the LED just pops out of the back of the Bezel, so is pretty easy.
(I like how sideshowBob does his!)
Will get these questions answered in the Install Instructions for others.

How many miles do you have on your vector?
On the 09 LTX about 12500. This is the first Mechanical break down on this machine. I did have the Exhaust break at the Y in the pipe but was able to drive it home 40 miles with out any problems . Welded it up and all has been good. Other than that the donuts were replaced under warranty . It's never left me stranded Thank God the starter took a poop in the driveway by the shop !

I have ten thousand on mine, wondering if I should buy starter and starter clutch before I have any issues
