Is the machined aluminum billet the new front linkage?

I saw a new phazer at a local fair, and the front arm linkage was a nice chunk of aluminum, instead of the fabbed/welded steel part. There was no one around to talk to about it, but it looked plenty beefy to me.

Thats right, The new part is made of aluminium.

Thanks! It was sitting next to a brand new mxz rev, and the phazer just looks so much better in all regards it's not funny..nothing against Doo, but the phazer 'calls' you to come beat me...lol.

Just got off the phone with yamaha customer service, they said there is no such thing as a replacement suspension link made of aluminum. They also said that they are not aware of issues with the rear suspension bracket breaking-what gives?

Seems like someone at customer service dont know what they are talking about!

Well, I got the scoop on this issue today, apparently there is a billet replacement. However Yamaha has only been handing it out in extreme situations. In fact it doesn't even have a part number. According to the information I got Yamaha is not sure if it is the offical fix, reason being that they are not sure what will break next in the rear suspension now that this weak link has been replaced, could be worse then just the front link breaking!

I may be wrong but wasn't sumpbuster saying this is on the new 08 skid or are they just showing a test machine. Secondly why the heck can't yamaha speak up and handle this issue. It's too common a problem for all this conjecture of what the repair will be. I'm sure they read these posts and they know that just about anyone that "rode" the sled like bumb machine more than likely broke this linkage. I will say this, when I take my sled in for the warranty repair and they give me that same linkage again I will not waste my time It's just going to come right back out of the sled and go to the local machine shop and I'll make a billet one.

tech updates are coming soon i go october 2 and i seen on a prodution phazer rtx with the new part on it so they will have to have a part number for it some time soon it look like a big chunk of billet aluminum so iamsure yamaha will be doing something soon

I think the suspension is fine..it's similar to the 05 Vector, and I've personally beat up on ours and there are zero issues with it so far. The problem is just how Barnstormer stated last year, it is a fabbed up steel part and was not welded all the way around. A sure recipe for disaster.
I think the billet part is way overkill, but very nice to see it, nonetheless.

Here is a picture of the new linkage.

Not the best quality. (picture that is)
