Is the Odometer off ?

AllagashX-- we should have all of the features that are on the Poo IQ, including call back of max R's and speed, water temp, switch all between metric and english, reverse digital and analog between speedo and rpm, but what the heck the Poo is only a $8000 sled not a $10,000.

No question Yamaha could be a little more imaginative with their display. It was revolutionary 8 years ago, but hasn't moved forward very far since.

--clock? Very nice. What took so long?
--barometric pressure? WTF? What in the world is the point of that?
--choice of controlling handwarmers OR shock damping? Come on...

-Why can't we calibrate the speed display? Wouldn't have to affect odometer.
-Why couldn't they take the obvious next step of converting the barometric pressure to altitude?
-Why not have retained top speed/rpm?

The 10% speed error is dumb. An accurate speedometer - what a concept! Why not be able to calibrate it to current snow conditions?

The reason they don't show altitude is because they don't measure altitude for the EFI systems. They measure airbox pressure because altitude does not factor in lower/higher barometric pressure due to weather patterns. Pressure does not stay constant at a given altitude. So a direct pressure measurement allows for more precise fueling regardless of altitude, weather patterns, temperature, etc.

Yes, it would have to be calibrate-able to be accurate, as with altimeters in airplanes. Easy to do.

ODO Off

WE ran over 300 miles last weekend, two Vmax 700's one 08 Phazer and my Attak. The 700's showed 340 miles the Phazer showed 320 and I showed 275. There is definetly something going on with the ODO. Now I do not attempt to spin the track at all, I know it does a little but that is a huge difference. Whatever.

With 1-tooth taken off the speedo gear the odometer is pretty much identical to my GPS, doesn't matter if the trails are hard or soft with some fresh snow.

very interesting....and this does make sense,if the stock speedo gear is off to begin with(ODO too hi) then with one tooth removed you get closer to accurate, then with 2 teeth like I have done, its 14% lower then one with no teeth removed.

so,in reality....I should be 7% less then ACTUAL ODO mileage.....much closer then i thought to actual, and I LOVE MY EXACT ACCURATE DIGI SPEEDO!.....now if yammie would just READ and MAKE IT ALL RIGHT NEXT YEAR!....fat chance.
