It is the BRAIN INJURY that matters not the helmet rating.

Holy cow Oak Hill and looking4speed. I had no idea that we had 2 live crash test dummies with real life stories adding validity to all this.

In all fairness lets point out that the Snells you guys were wearing were probably the old 400G standard which was really too high. The current 300Gs will hopefully be reduced even further.

Ahhh we dont want to talk people out of buying Snell helmets, we just want to point out that if they are safer it is by a very tiny margin.

Well Im a crash test dummy too then.
2 seasons in a row I had spils with my sleds.
Once at stupid high speed I hit a 6 ft jump and got bucked off the back of the rev.
I landed on my head 35 ft fromt where I was kicked off.
No damage to my noodle.
Last year I was riding with the g/f and riding normal , not like when im with the guys.
I hit a droft wrong it sent me off the sled and again on my melon I went.
My neck was sore both times but nothing wrong with my mush.
I was wearing a BV2S helmut and both times it did its job.
See the NON snell is as good in my eyes.

Can someone stop the screen from moving?, and while your at it answer the phone..
KIDDING

Glad all you guys came through all of that

BV2S....interesting

That is one that some people bash on for 2 reasons, just DOT and it is modular.

so...Scott..... how did the front of that BV helmet hold up? Did the front piece just fall right off or break like some folks claim it will?

How fast were you going that first time?

1st crash I was UMMM Speeding.
Say in the 70 mph range.
2nd was riding normal say about 40-50 ish.
The front piece is as good as new.
It never broke, fell off or cut my throat as some say it does.

That was my fear, That mouth piece bracking, I guess i should not worrie

I have a great article from one of my Motorcycle mags about Snell verus DOT rated helmets. After reading and checking out their test results I switch from a high dollar snell rated one to good named DOT rated helmet. In all it made the point that Snell helmets are too hard and don't absorb enough of the impact to slow the force entering helmet down before it is transmitted to your head and brain. As explained by the original post your brain smashs into your skull causing brain injuries. If I can find the book I will scan the article in it is extremely good article.
