Jumped out of gear **fixed-chain case actuator notes**

The spring is inside the chain case correct? So for let's say filling up the chain case oil do you need to preload this spring? I'm still confused about that. According to Arctic they had a service bulletin out after people had problems you described. The updated stuff helped with it but I guess the forward and reverse thing was advised to make sure its corrected itself in the right position. I ask that because I've not seen anything on preloading a spring. Not doubting you just asking for clarification.

You are correct i just got instruction to cycle the key on and off three times after install but no mention of shifting it three times, guess it can't hurt though.
Apparently i was close with my original install just never preloaded the spring that keeps it from popping out under load.My Bad

I never heard of that either. We will all need to know since at 500mi when you tighten the chain it wouldnt hurt to change the chaincase oil and take a look in there. Once procedure is known for sure will put it in Facts section. YAMAHA WHERE ARE THE SERVICE MANUALS?

Well according to cat there isn't any preloading anything. As for the service manuals a dealer by me stated they just made them and should be coming out soon.

This whole thing is completely new to me as my doo motors just turned in reverse but this info is coming from from a reputable source that was given a viper prototype to stretch and turbo as he works with our western canada rep . it was also suggested to me that yamaha also had input into the final design of this chaincase in the vipers. It would be interesting to see the cat and viper chain case internals side by side to see if there is actually any differences.Service manual would also be helpful as nobody seems to know anything for sure about whats been changed from cat's designs

What all of us need to remember is that is something we should all be educated about, yes i swapped the track and that was how i found out about this procedure, but the average guy going to top up his chaincase also has to remove the actuator and likewise install it correctly so to brush this off as a track swap issue is wrong
take this thread out if you like and put it in the how to's but let's call it like it is.

Thank you for being honest, now alot of us will understand the procedure for the chaincase,i wish we had a dipstick,it would make my life a bit easier, but sense i dont my service to the case will be the same as a viper.

waker it would be really nice if you could post a video of your mcx powered beast, i want to hear how it sounds!

i added fluid to my chain case today. after i installed the extension piece i had to put the actuator in at the 0100 oclock position and turn in back to the 1200 oclock position not sure if there all like this or if this is needed but my holes would not line up if i didnt. after words i took it for a ride and put it in reverse a few times with a couple runs up to 60-70mph but since this is still a new motor i didnt push it to hard. everything worked great. i think this is what you were explaining wacker.

X2

I'll try and remember to take some video this week-end but usually when i start riding this animal or should i say SNAKE,i forget about everything else and just ride it's an absolute riot to ride
I highly recommend the mcx 190hp kit to everyone, makes the sled feel like it will never quit pulling,it's not unusual to see 80 to 90 mph across a field with 2 ft of powder. I've never had a sled that even comes close performance wise
