get in touch with Yamahatim his worked great and the ballasts were small enough to fit inside the hood
I always rode behind him it was like following a police chopper in the sky.
I did not install them cause the XTX is impossible to adjust the headlight with the skis 3' off the ground.

I put Rockmeister's HIDs in my XTX last year and they are amazing! Once they were in i was always the first in the pack once the sun went down.

leds are great but not in a halogen reflector housing....leds will not project far enough, even hids arent meant for these style housings but they still are an improvement....you want leds at this point in time light bars are the way to go or square rigid industries lights, but i dont see any good spot for aux lights so i run hids in this

I'll second the suggestion to contact Rock at Yamaheater for no BS lighting.

Emailed rock last night on their hid kits and he explained it all real well that their setup is 100% plug and play and no wiring of any kind needs to be done. Also emphasized how easy the setup is to install. I have a hard time spending money on stuff that isn't going to make the machine any faster but I'm ordering their kit.
Great choice.

Absolutely love Rock's HIDs. Very easy install once you take everything off so you can get the headlight spring clamps. Just take the time to take the whole headlight unit out like another TotallyYamaha user suggested to me. Once you do that, it's very easy to get at those pain in the #*$&@ spring loaded clamps. Here is the picture somebody shared with me on my HID install for those difficult spring loaded clips, but are very easy once you take the whole headlight assembly off.

Installation took about 1 hour total, which most of it was taking everything off. The plug and play was super easy to install. For the slim ballasts, I just bought some outdoor heavy duty velcro and stuck the two slim ballasts on the plastic where there was room. They never moved one bit during the whole season and I just checked them the other day and they are securely solid. You certainly can drill a hole to secure them, but I didn't think it was necessary. Super happy with the install and the performance of the HIDs. Awesome investment for sure!
