Okay... there has been a lot a debate on the ECP filters and they're effectiveness. I am opening up the invitation to run this Sunday 1-11-04 on OTIS Reservoir. 1-2 mile staight or we can set up 660" or 1000' or 1320'. Whatever the participants want.
I'm 1 hour from Albany NY, 2 hours from Boston, 1 hour from Hartford, 1-1/2 from southern VT.
8-10" ice with 3/4" packed snow. The lake is FAST!
Now's the time!
There will be at least an RX-1, 04 ZR-900, and expect various mod SRX's.
There's no trail riding to be found so the Mounties should be doing other things.
I have direct access and enough parking for at least 12 rigs.
If there's enough interest I'll post the directions and phone number. 11:00-12:00 start.
Serious or fun. It should be a good time and at least an opportunity to run.

I had hear a lot of buzz about this debate and was wondering when the rubber would meet the road. I know of one fast RX1 that will be there with ECP kit. Let the #*$&@ whooping begin.

I'm considering coming down from N.H. Looks like about a 2hr ride. I'm running the hauck k&n set-up. It would be interesting to compare. What do you think the odds are of getting caught without a Mass reg? How much is a Mass. reg?

Hi BOSTON RX.......... to whom are you referring when you know one fast RX will be there? Will we be graced with "your" presence??
I also posted this invitation on the regular TY form.
The response so for is very encouraging to say the least.
It looks like there "will" be a radar gun available.
We're planning on a fire by the lake race area and coffee for all.
The weather looks perfect at 15-20 F .
Heated garage for those that need to tune in a pinch.
The lake is still mint at 9"-10" ice with just a small amount (3/4"-1") of snow to lube to cool. Don't let the lack of snow cover fool you flatlanders. We have the white stuff here at 1450'
Freddie......... Great! You will be welcomed with open arms!
Really hope you can make it.
Once again...... find OTIS, Ma. in the southern part of very western mass.
Exit #2 of the Mass pike. Take rt20 east to rt 8 south, go 4 miles to Otis center and pick up rt23 east, go 3-4 miles to big J&D Marina sign (west shore rd.), go right on west shore rd 3/4 MILE (PAST THE LAKE) to the 2nd left Pine Rd. 8/10 mile down to #461 Pine Rd.
From Waterebury, CT rt8 north to Otis center and then pick up rt 23 east and follow the above directions.
I'll put Yamaha flags at West Shore, Pine Rd and 461 Pine to help.
If you get lost just call 413-269-6120

I wouldn't worry about it, Otis RX says that the green guys are
usually not around. I'm going to chance it, the ticket will cost
about as much as the reg anyway. Nothing to lose.

RED RX....... chances are very slim unless the Mounties monitor TY.
There is no trail riding as the snow cover is very thin. They'll be busy doing other things.
I'm not sure of the cost for out-of-staters, but in state is $40.00 for 2 years. They make it very difficult to get one. You need to go to the local Registry of Motors vehicles. Dumb!!
I know the local Mountie well and should be able to help out, but no guarantees. This is a limited opportunity and should be taken.
Once the snow does fly this type of race set up will be difficult to pull off.
Hope to see you.

Question? Are you guys running ice studs? If so, I'll have to try an make time to put mine in. As of right now I have high hopes of being there.

RED RX......... I'm running 192 with a mixture of 1175 Woody gold diggers and Rotein 1180- Thrusters. It's up to you how much you want to "hook up". Most everyone is riding their trail set up, but I do expect some of the die hards that will be running hooker set up that couldn't make it 5 feet in 6" of snow. You know the type!
Any stud set up will keep you from spinning on top end.
Come join the fun.
We'll all learn from each other.
Yamaha guys are the best by far!
Class acts from what I've seen.
See you Sunday.

Run 'em in Otis indeed!

Such a long trip from my side of the lake to yours... sounds like a good time. Can't let you RX1 guys have all the fun. A couple Blue SXR 500s along with a BLUE SRX will make for a good Yamaha showing. Think any Polaris and Cat owners we know might bring out their toys?

Me too. Only problem is I have a lot of luck and it is all bad. Looks like I will be there Sunday. Going to leave Waterbury around 9AM. About 1.5 hour ride for me. I have a customers RX1 on the dyno right now that I installed my Air Kit on and redynoed. This one is the weakest one I have dynoed so far...even in stock condition. The improvements percentage-wise were the same as the others but this one seemed to make a bit less power than any other that I have done so far.

Today, I put a Whiteknuckle GP1 Exhaust on it and welded a bung for a wide band air/fuel sensor. Tomorrow (Saturday) Ted Jannetty and I are going to test on the dyno and document the O2 findings. This will help when I have Dynojet make the needles for me. Which brings me to another point...I need one stock needle from an RX1 carburetor. I am going to plot it out under a comparator and then use the findings from the dyno tomorrow and the "in field" testing Sunday to try to come up with a needle to make our kits 110%. If anyone has a stock needle from a carburetor, I (and everyone else) would be grateful to have it. If not, I could always order one...they are not that expensive.

See you all Sunday and thanks for the invite and putting this all together Otis. Udaman!

I'm all the way across the country and I can hardly wait to hear how all this racing and needle testing stuff turns out! I have to work this weekend (I work fulltime for the Air National Guard and one weekend a month we train our traditional guardsmen) and I will be checking constantly to hear how much difference the filters make.
If I could get a needle to you by Sunday I'd do it in a minute but there's just no way it would make it. Did you get the Dynoket needles for a FZ1000 or R-1? I am SO impressed with you guys (Supertuner and Ted). Thanks for working to make Yamaha's one ton into a real force to be dealt with! PB

I appreciate the desire PB.

I did get a call back from "The Man" at Dynojet. He indicated to me that we could make easier work of this by getting him a stock needle, the dyno reports/graphs, and some O2 sensor reports...thustly this effort!

If you want to send me a needle via mail or UPS, I will gladly accept it.

They are definately willing to manufacture these jet kit part(s) for me.

SUPERTUNER.............. Really glad you're going to make it!
Everyone on TY will be interested in the results from this Sunday.
We have sleds coming from New Hampshire, New York State, Conn. and many from Mass and as far out as Boston. Not to mention the ones from the lake area here.
This could turn you from SUPERTUNER to GOD TUNER status really quick, but then if ........well we'll just leave that alone~!! :) I'm curious about the "this one is the weakest sh - t! Sounds like a set up to me.! How about the rest of you TY boys out there?
What do you think??
I guess we'll have a to do a little inspection come Sunday.
Any strange "happy buttons" found will be a No No!!
The new exhaust can't hide any turbo or NOS lurking beneath!
All fun aside...... glad you're going to make it. It will be a great time.
Hey OTIS SRX....... it's about time you hopped on board!
Call me when you arrive.
Maybe we can get Walnut Lane and his RX to join in the fun! Said he was coming over tomorrow for a "little work" before the big day Sunday.
I know the 2 T-Cat's , XCR800 & 800 XC crew will be here Sunday.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the " PSI MOD" come out for this one!
We all know "it's 100% stock"!!!!!!!!
