Has anyone swapped the OEM heated seat switch with a lighted one?
Thanks

This was discussed before and I don't think anybody came up with a good option. I think the issue was the switch itself is the resistor to control high and low. Could be wrong about that though. But maybe keep the stock switch and wire in a seperate LED after the switch?

Here is a picture of the inside of the OEM switch. The resistors are very small, I think 1/4 watt.

I ordered higher resistance resistors (3.9k and 4.7k) as the stock low setting can be too hot and ordered a new rocker switch body with 2 red LEDs and an etched switch cover. To make it work I'm going to take 12v power and neg from the seat connector on the main harness side and bring it to the new switch to supply the power for the backlights. It should light up low when on the low setting and high on the high setting. I will post a picture of the switch and how it's wired.

Interesting. Would have though high setting was direct. Did you happen to measure voltage at seat plug ?

Here is a wiring diagram for the switch I used. I didn't use stock resistor values as the temps were too hot for me even on very cold days.
Its nice to give back to a forum for which I have gotten so much info from in the past 10 years.

Thanks as well, very nicely done!

Are the resistor values in your switch diagram the new values?

If so, do these now make what the factory low felt like the new high setting, then low is more like a normal low that you can leave on?
(I agree, the factory low was way to hot, and couldn’t even use the high setting!)

Also, where did you get the new switch?

Steve

Really nice job. Can you tell us where to get the switch and what is the wattage on the resistors
Thanks
