Just finished it up at 2:00am last night. CR Racing bars/throttle , RSI Risers/Heaters and Heat Demon Controller...bye bye Yami ECU limiting POS grip heaters.
Have Beeze's Arctic Cat brake conversion and got the brake lever high/low working. Took a bit of soldering, but otherwise not bad.
Overall, it took quite a bit of work to grip heaters properly wired in with the resistors in place to keep the ECU happy. I'm pretty sure this mod shed about 3 lbs

Anyone have any experience with the Heat Demon on their ATV? Durable or not?
that looks very nice OTM!!! very clean!

Bumping this back to the top to throw some ideas out there, probably terrible ones but we don't have any snow nearby and its raining. I was browsing the Wahl Bros website and thought...What about eliminating the brake on the jack shaft all together?
Using something like this on the driveshaft with a custom (whatever the proper steel is) 6" brake rotor (should just clear the track with 7-tooth 3" pitch drivers)
Then using a flush mount caliper mounted on the inside of the tunnel towards the suspension to clear the track. Wahl's has a few different styles, not sure of the their braking strength or the strength of the units themselves.
This Hayes one looks pretty stout.
Not only could you remove the heavy oem caliper and bolts, but you could chop a big chunk of jackshaft off as well as the caliper mounting ears on the chaincase cover. The Jackshaft could be cut nearly flush with the chaincase cover.
Possible? Not possible? Suicide ? I'm starting to think a drug habit would be less addictive and cheaper.

This is a great idea if that brake does well down there

Was having this exact same thought process on my Apex thinking about trying to cut a ton of weight and this track shaft idea is intriguing because not only because of the benefits that Nikolai mentioned but the drive shaft is not spinning as fast as the jack shaft so it would theoretically rev easier.
Anyone try it?
