Lightweight brake rotor or gears? Such a thing?

Brake rotor from MPI I believe. As far as gears, I have heard of some billet gears for racing only but nothing else as far as regular gears...

They make wave rotors for the 2 strokes (Viper, SRX, etc), never seen one for Nytros though. Probably not worth the cost per amount of weight saved I'm guessing.

I have run billet gears (aluminum) that tapex_07 mentioned above before. However it was for running the grass drags only due to the rapid wear rate.

Hmmm maybe a lightweight brake rotor would not be a bad idea, som eone once told me that every pound of rotating mass you get rid of is like cutting five pounds off the machine? And changing it out would be a snap..

Yukon, yes thats about the same weight I was told also. I was told 1lb rotating to 7lb of stationary. So a rotor thats 2 lbs lighter could make a big change..

A lightweight rotor would be sweet! I hope some one finds one i would be all over that.... Alot of guys have been goin to 8" wheel kits and changing all the rear wheels to carbon fiber....very light and good looking but $$$$$

if your going this route, why not go the path of a belt drive system vs. gears and chain?

a few companies make them...CMX makes one for their stuff...and C3 PowerSports makes one...

No the cmx system will not work i have made some phone calls and the nytro bulk head pannels will not allow it to work, The yamaha chain case is molded into the side plate

I am just surprised somebody has not come up with an inexspensive option for this. Cat had some factory light weight gears, so i just figured somebody would have machined the yammy gears to drop a pound. The brake rotor just plain looks heavy.

Hmmm yeah the brake rotor is very heavy :o| , light weight gears..... :drink: i dont think that i would want any of those, if a light weight gear let go it could do alot of $$$$ damage to the chain case

You could pay someone to drill or slot your oem rotor. Micro Belmont will make custom lightweight jackshafts & driveshafts if your just trying to lose rotating mass, but they are expensive.
