LIMITER BLOCK

thats not the rear couplers that you are looking at, its the spring adjustment.

It is definitely the couplers.

In the close-up you can see it is currently in the maximum weight transfer setting. Rotating them 90° CC (as viewed) would put them in the middle weight transfer setting and rotating it 180° would put it in the minimum weight transfer setting.

Nope NO adjustable rear coupler blocks on the stock rear skid!

I'd take a picture of my rear skid while it's out.... BUT I can't!

Not as shown on-line then...

Back in the spring I had been looking at the skid on-line and thinking it had everything to make it Yamaha's first true top performing skid.

Rex
Here is the deal that link is NOT of the production rear skid on our sleds!!

I can see there are no less than 5 (five) items that are different from my skids in my garage and on that pre-production rear skid (or NEXT years rear skid! lol) in the link you gave!

You can't compare that skid to the ones under our sleds!

Yes that one shows adjustable coupling blocks... and that among other items are different on the production sleds!

Then Yamaha Canada needs to update their web site. That is the current rear skid used in the Nytro RTX according to Yamaha Canada's official web site.

That is not supposed to be a pre-production skid at all and it is supposed to be the current production skid as represented by Yamaha...

Here is a link to Yamaha's main web page on the Nytro RTX:

http://www.yamaha-motor.ca/products/products.php?model=2186

Clicking on the link to "Galery and Media" for the Nytro RTX on that page and then clicking on the link to "2008 Fx Nytro RTX Suspension" takes you right to the image I posted.

There are no other suspension pictures showing something else to confuse the matter either...

OK I believe you, that that is what is posted on the internet...

BUT

That is NOT the rear skid the the U.S. Production sleds came with! I do know this for a fact!!

It would have been nice to have that skid! but our rails are slightly different, the coupler blocks, the anti bottoming perches, front rail tips, and one other item.....

I just noticed another thread stating no-one got the anti-bottomers either.

I'm positive I remember reading that they were included in the specifications. What is Yamaha up to?

This is even stranger.

I decided to have a look at the official US web site for information on the Nytro RTX's suspension (trying to see a picture of what Yamaha is actually selling since the Canadian web site isn't showing what is actually being sold).

The main web page detailing the Nytro RTX rear suspension is here:

http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/sno/s ... _tech.aspx

For some reason it doesn't show any weight transfer limiters at all, but it not only shows the anti-bottomers (as the spec I previously read did too), but it highlights them, points a big arrow to them, labels them as "feature E" and states that they are "anti-bottoming stoppers".

Again this is the official Yamaha web site and this web page is detailing officially what Yamaha is selling currently.

In fact, searching through all of the images of FX Nytro's on Yamaha USA's web site, I couldn't find a single photograph that didn't show the anti-bottomers.

As far as the weight transfer limiters, some images on the US site show them, some don't.

The truly sad part is that IS the SAME EXACT PICTURE OF THE SAME EXACT SKID with the area where the adjustable coupling blocks photoshopped out!!

Check the shadows!! In BOTH pics they are exactly the same...

I was all over this last May/June!!! Trust me I have seen these pics and talked with some people.. I can't say WHY the changes were made other than what I have already stated...

Wait and ride your sled ..then we'll be able to adjust what you want changed....

I know....

Saving something to make the 09 different......

(that statement is true than some will know... until next year)
Normally thats how I feel about marketing but in Yamaha's case, they dont release untested/unproven components----Fusion 900 (not bashing Poo either)

Here is a side view of the rear of the skid. You can see the coupler blocks on mine and there is no adjustment, just one flat edge.

I'm sure you could easily create a 3 sided block with different thicknesses on each edge to engage the coupling at different rates.

Goddo thats it.
The plastic piece actually sits on an aluminium rod/bracket which also goes into a hole on the rail behind the wheel.
3 Sided block is the way to go, we just can't use stock Nytro hardware.

Figuring out the best thickness will be the fun part.

I'm more than a little curious to know why this was changed from internet pics........still looking for the transfer rods shown in my manual...!!! LOL.

Ulmer page in the sponsor section has some great pictures also.
