Linq fuel can

Good looking product but does not help my case as I run a much larger tunnel bag then in the pic and I don’t have the clearance between the tail light and bag. I need to go back and up about 1 1/2” beyond the tunnel with the linq adapters plate and up 2-3 “ to clear tail light. I can build it at the shop I just thought something may already be available. Thanks.
I’m in the same position as you, I don’t want to lose the tunnel bag but also would like to carry some fuel. How close do you think the gas can will be from the bumper ? Let us know what you come up with..

risers get you above tail light. What is distance between your bag and base of the tailight? I can do a mock up tomorrow in shop.

Just a heads up if you ride hard in rough trails and have the gas can back too far you can bend the tunnel. Ideal location for gas can is as close to seat as possible. Get the linq bag to go on top of the gas can and toss the stock 20l bag otherwise you risk bending the fragile tunnel with a far rearward mount.

Up North Technologies is what I have under the tank. I also have a bag which I can run alone or on top of the tank. You would have to add height to this bracket to get what Winder_506 is after.

my linq can is as far back as it needs, to fit , and no tunnel bending issues .
Tunnel should not bend as it is built to handle a ski boose with out bending .
I would measure the distance from my bag to the end of the tunnel but my sled is still at the dealer.
my tank is about 3+ inches farther back, and all good .

As you can see in the pic below with the new tunnel bag Winder_506 is trying to keep the bag and add the fuel can. There’s not much room left on the tunnel with this new tunnel bag.

That’s about what mine will be, 3ish inches further back and 3” higher

Are you trying to use the 3.8 gallon
Style: 860201264
Or the 3 gallon
Style: 860200733

Perhaps the smaller one will work better??

So I bought the itech industries linq adapter Brackets for my ‘20 ltx le to use the linq fuel can. I fastened my linq adapters to the brackets and put the fuel can on and moched them up for fitment. The fuel can will not fit between the factory 20L tunnel bag and the tail light shroud and I’m not loosing my tunnel bag. Anyone got or built adaptor plates to clear the linq adapters and brackets over the tail light ? Looks to be about 2 3/4- 3” needed to clear the light bracket.
How high do you need to raise it so it fits above the tailight ?

Unfortunitely the tunnel can and will bend when riding hard with a full fuel caddy mounted at the far rear of the tunnel on rough trails. The tunnel can haul a ski boose but that is a total different loading than the fuel caddy. The fuel caddy exerts a downward force on the tunnel and in off camber rough trails provides torsional loading which the tunnel was never designed for.

I just want the OP to realize the possibility of bending the tunnel, it's not a certainty but riding hard on rough trails with a full caddy can result in a bent tunnel. It's a calculated risk.

For some reason, leverage, tunnel bending seems to start with 141" sleds. To put gas that far back on a 137" I would add bracing too. The configuration of the Up North Pro Series rack actually adds a bracing effect because the bottom flange goes the length. I'm not saying its enough but it adds to the strength. To put a gas can behind that big bag it seems you are going to have to modify someone's mount, or fab up some kind of adaptation, or wait for Travis to do it. I cut several inches off my Pro Series rack to keep the factory bag (small) under the seat and I have RotoPax gas pack and I bungie down what ever I need over that using dry bag backpacks. Works great for me and is very adaptable.

Here's my solution...3 gallons total, can still run a tunnel pack. Attaches to the bumper. These are Kolpins but they don't make them anymore. Guess you can use Rotopax
