Ok I've misplaced not one but 3 keys for 3 machines a 2014 srviper, a 2010 phazer and a 2009 venture multipurpose, I'm into the 3rd day of searching and I have no idea what I did with them??? Ok, so if I cant find them soon what is the best thing to do, dealership? locksmith? I do not have the key codes, thanks for any advice! Good thing we dont have enough snow yet, I'd really be going out of my mind!lol

if you take key ignition out there should be the number for your key then go to dealer and they can order from yamaha for you.

I needed a boat key this summer and I was told the there are only 6 or 8 different keys for all Yamaha outboards. Sleds probably the same.
Speaking of boats, pulled mine today. First time I made it into December. There has been shore ice right out to the boat the last several days.

If you can find the code then a locksmith will be able to decipher it and cut a new one. All else fails a new ignition would come with new keys I would imagine. Might not be a whole lot more then ordering keys from the dealer and getting them cut if you have to go that route. You just know what will happen though, the day after you get the key situation sorted our you'll find the 3 missing keys lol.

Thanks guys, still searching, i will probably end up buying non OEM ignitions, the run around 40 bucks

Contact Travis at Barn Of Parts sled salvage for a used bundle of three switches.
As mentioned above there are only a few different keys, mine and my wife's RX1s had the same key and they were built months apart.

Great idea!!
Also, after losing a key on the trail (03 rx1) and a long ride double back to the truck and then to get the sled, I tape a spare inside the toolbox somewhere not obvious...and carry a spare sw key in my wallet.

Have not seen one in a long while, but you used to be able to have a spare key cut into plastic the size of a credit card and keep in you wallet. When needed you pulled it out and folded the key out to use in the key cylinder. Wonder if they still make those? :dunno:

Google image came up with one image only, guess with coded keys it may have went away. They fit nice in your wallet.

Seen where people are also making spare keys with 3d printers.

I have my spare key electrical taped in with some of the wiring on my sled. No matter what, I always have a key to start the sled. Just ask me about the time I trailered an hour from home to ride. It it was warm, so took a lighter weight jacket. Key was in my regular sled jacket at home.... Never again.

But getting older, I forget where I hid them...lol! I forgot the sw key was in my wallet...fell out getting my sled regs out...
