RTX Moose I have been saying this for years to many Ski Doo trolls on this site. All I got to say is it's only 20 hp more than there 850 and it weighs more so they better have there shitz together because I will, bring on your Mach Z . That anti lag will do you no good on the Snow except dig a hole, they came right out and said it thenselves.

Seems to be a lot of hate on the Doo and I don't get it. If I was happy running a stock 200 HP sled I'd be all over it. Renegade X is what I'd be buying if I was in the market for a 200 HP sled.
Knowing the 900R is 17.4 lbs. of boost should tell you guys it will be well over 180 HP, remember when the winder came out Yamaha called it 180 also? Some tuners are calling 16 lbs 185 HP, others are calling it 195, so do the math on that. Its going to be more than 180 for certain. The sled it replaced they called 150 and it made 163. It's going to make OVER 190-200 HP, take that to the bank.
My money stock for stock is on the Doo. The Doo is far lighter than a Winder, now add in the weight for power steering and the Winder will be even slower. The apex added #40 going to EPS does everyone forget that fact.
Now as far as adding boost with tunes, the Doo does not stand a chance, full tilt for full tilt. Then my money is on the 998 hand down. At least the Doo won't need the driveline modifications for reliability like the Cat does. For some that is huge. The Cat as we all know is in need of a few things to make it more reliable as not to ruin a trip. I don't get why Cat fails to fix this.
The Doo will be a great machine if you can put up with a rougher ride up front and harder steering. No I'm not ordering one, but for guys that don't like to wrench then this is the turbo for them. Is it going to beat the winder stock for stock, Id say yes. So what, tune the winder up if your butt hurt about that and move on.

No hate towards anything or anyone this is a Yamaha site, if you all want to brag up or buy a Ski Doo that's fine with me but go over to Doo Talk you will be a little more welcome over there. What do you expect really. I could care less what Ski Doo has to offer I'm a Yamaha guy good or bad it is what it is.

It will be interesting to see Mike. You have to assume Doo has the sidewinder in mind as its goal. That being said it would be hard to match what Yamaha has managed to do with the winder engine in terms of pretty much zero turbo lag. I'm not interested in a sled with perceptible lag. That was the beauty of the Apex and Winder, neither of them felt soft or slow to build power like people expect a 4 stroke snowmobile to be.

Bottom line the 900 doo is weaker!!!!! Unless that motor is redesigned with a bigger turbo

It is weak compared to the tuned winders yes, but stock for stock it will outrun a winder, you will see. Think Doo hasn't run them stock for stock yet, guess again. Yamaha will need to up the boost to stay ahead of the Doo now that they are running 17.4 lbs! The Doo is sooooo much lighter! Yamaha better up the boost pressure a couple of pounds while they are at it for next year!
Doo going to ba a nice sled for the guys that just want to ride and not replace their top gear bushings every couple thousand miles, remove factory ROV's, weld tensioner bolts and add wedges to hold their bearing from spinning on the shafts. Some guys like to monkey and some like to ride. The guys that like to ride high miles without worry, the Doo will be a great nice light machine for them.
Myself I'm not giving up the Winder, you won't pry it from me, but its not the machine for everyone, that's all. For me, I'm all about the Winder once the fixes are on all in place and I won't give up the power. The Cat driveline should be better engineered from the factory so one doesn't have to almost completely re-work it to make it reliable.
I love Yamaha's comment on instagram, but stock for stock the Winder is going down against the Mach and that is my prediction, tuned for tuned the Mach doesn't stand a chance against a Winder.

You are pretty set on this 17.4 psi making 200 hp isn't there alitte more stuff to the equation then just the psi what about the intake the # of throttle bodies, where the turbo is located and probably other things please explain how you think that the 17.4 is going to be even close to 200hp without dyno results. You are definitely right about them being able to buy a SideWinder to test against and that is one of the reasons why it will be close but there are a lot of variables that come to play one being studding if it is not loaded up its just gonna dig a hole. Most guys I know race on the Snow and that's the last thing you want is coming out of the hole at 3500 rpm and just spinning your track and digging a hole now if you want to get technical you can throw in rotating mass with all those studs how much hp you losing there.

I think it will be close, stock Winder vs the new Mach from Ski Doo, don't think for one minute Ski Doo hasn't already line them up down a lake somewhere over and over again for days on end, we will see soon enough and put this to rest, the blues might need Kleenex i'm thinking.

Just thinking....Yamaha doesnt announce their 2022 models until March.
You would think the other manufactures were well aware Ski Doo was working on a hyper sled and well aware the target was on the Sidewinder's back.
For all we know the SRX and Tcat could have their ecus set up with more boost in 2022 and possibly even launch control.
The after market companies have proven the reliability of ridiculous boost levels on the 998 and Yamaha could easily tweak the ecu for 2-4 psi more boost for virtually no cost or increased warranty claims.
That would be gold if they rained on the Mach Zs parade with a enhanced SRX!

If they would put a higher flow exhaust on with mapping to match they wouldn't even need more boost. But one pound would be sufficient.Just thinking....Yamaha doesnt announce their 2022 models until March.

Agreed. I called the local Skidoo dealer this am and within an hour and a half of the 1:30 launch yesterday he had already sold 5 MachZ's. I assume that was at full pop at $23000+ Cdn!It's a funny comment, but I bet there will be more 2022 Turbo R sleds than 2022 998s.
I think it will likely be close. But Let’s not forget the last time they brought the Mach Z name out of the mothballs. It was supposed to be a world beater but as it turned out it was equal to my Apex..........when the Z wasn’t burning down or literally catching on fire trail side.
Frankly, I also suspect this 200 - 205 HP line we are at now with the Winder and presumably the Mach Z is about as far as any manufacturer will be willing to release for the public. But then again I never thought Yamaha would release a 200 HP sled as conservative as they are.
