Are the lower ball joints removable from the arm?

might have to use measurements at an auto supply store to find them if needed. seen a guy do it with atv ball joints.

I wanted to powder coat the arms ....wasn’t sure they came out since there isn’t a part number for them. Are they difficult to get out?

So how exactly do you remove this ball joint? Seems like the rubber is attached to the arm. Hate to damage it.

From looking at it ...I would say they powder coated it after the ball joint was installed...cause there powder covering the rubber. Guess if I want to re powder coat it shouldn’t hurt the rubber. Anyone try powder coating it with the ball joint in?

Small flat screw driver down at the base and carefully pry the boot out. Should be a snap ring and then they are pressed into the arms.

Sure seemed like the boot was glued to the locking ring.

MrSled was yours like that?

Because the dust boot was bonded to the arm...did yours leak after...don’t think it will seal properly now in the arm side.

I did my brothers Viper and it was not a problem. If you worried about it and it dont fit snug you could add a little supper glue or Yama-Bond. Clean thoroughly with contact spray or alcohol on the mating surface.

Ok. Appreciate your help. I will post the final results so the post may help others that wish to powder coat there lower a arms.

Very enlightening posts guys thanks.....I am always looking at sleds(leftovers) which many times are not the colors I like(green lol)

And i have done a ton of Powdercoating on the Harley over the yrs...so this was something I always wondered about with these arms. Great to see how they come apart.
