Yes thats the black and red wire to the square box on your turbo. It is safe to disconnect. It will then just go to you wastegate setting, which since you turned it out lots it will be low. Now with it disconnected the turbo will no longer change with altitude but your only doing this for testing purposes. Disconnect and set your boost with the rod til your at 6psi and see if you still have rev limiter problems.

But this does sound more like a clutching issue unless your hitting 8psi boost then your just over booting.

Anyone?Disconnected the tcv and still hit 7 lbs.. and 9300 rpm.
Have you tried nursing the throttle to see if it shifts through the range normally? It could be that something is binding in the secondary. Just throttle as much as you can to get some speed and see if the RPM's still climb to limiter.
The fact that the boost is not dropping as you adjust is puzzling.

I would, but at this point I'm very worried about doing damage to my motor. I just had it out again with a different secondary set up that MCX recommended. With the TCV disconnected and 8 turns out it holds steady at 7 PSI and hit 9380 rpm.

Is it safe to say that if I'm showing 12.5-13 on the afr gauge at wide open throttle I'm in a safe zone for boost? Even though its showing 7 on my boost gauge and people tell me I should be at 6 max...??

Sounds like a meltdown is in your future, better get it figured out before it goes boom! What is controlling the boost on that thing?
The wastegate actuator needs a pressure source from the intake to the canister. Be sure that this is plumbed to boosted intake tract.

I'm thinking he might have a leak in the diaphragm for the actuator. Definitely sounds like overboost.

Yeah if the Tcv is unplugged and your rod is threaded almost right to the end and your still boosting that high? seems to me that the waste gate actuator is not opening. Can you upload a picture of the turbo area? You are turning the end counter clockwise right?

I have felt that way for quite some time, but everyone is telling me its my clutching... So now that that is out of the way.. hopefully someone will get me some answers. The MCX controller controls the boost. but I have that unplugged and the wastegate rod extended and still over boosting.
And yes I have turned it counter clockwise. I had it turned another 4 turns but it would't fit. So I had to turn it back to 3.5.. So I don't even know if I can extend it anymore than I already have..

Wow, so when you go to hook the wastegate linkage back up. You have to swing the wastegate arm (on the turbo) away from the wastegate actuator to get it to line up? So the gate will already be preopened. I would
Pull the line off of the actuator and lightly blow some compressed air in and see if the rod moves. And use soap and water to check for leaks. Make sure that line isn't pinched somewhere.

Also as TD mentioned it could be the boost pressure signal. Check for a small hose that goes from the intake plenum or intercooler to the waste gate actuator. It could be pinched, kinked or leaking at either end. It should be clamped or more likely fastened with a small wire tie at each end.
