So I want to lengthen the rod to reduce psi, but how much do I lengthen?
Well on the waste gate on my MPI I think 1 turn was about 1/2 lb of boost I would go 2 turns its quick and take it for a test ride
Last time I did mine I was adding 1.5#'s of boost and I had to remove the jamb nut from the rod to have enough thread to go 3 turns. the pic is before I made the adjustment and I was going from the 4.5 to 6 and it once on WOT hit 7 so I back it out 1/2 turn.

Yes turn down the boost if you are running stock injectors with stock fuel pump 7 is very very bad!!!
Is you AEM new? I burned mine out 2 weeks ago (after 3 years and 3500 miles) and it was reading 13.9 all the time. Bought a new on Ebay last week $157.95 with the updated bosch sensor 4.9 LSU. They are not interchangeable so you have to throw out the gauge and replace rather than just buying the sensor. Put it in and back to 10.5 at WOT Hurray! I am running 110 octane most of the time and it is hard on them

Its brand new, probably 5 miles on it since I installed it. It was reading around 11 most of the time. That link you sent is the exact gauge I have. I thought it would last longer than 5 miles lol.. Apparently if you are running very rich it is hard on them as well.. Sounds like junk to me! lol.

I will go try. I really don't like trying it without the air fuel gauge working right though.. :S
I would call AEM if you can prove you just bought it I bet they step up and send you a new sensor then. Mine was the old style and it lasted 3 yrs running race gas!
If you don't mind me asking ..... where is your BUNG?
sorry could not resist. The old MPI I have it is before the turbo the new ones are after the turbo before the muffler and I have heard of a few with AFR's going bad really quick not sure if it is a temp thing or what?

Back the boost off several turns then start working upwards 1 turn at a time until you get close then 1/2 turn increments. Keep it low until you get good AFR gauge.

Does the guage have a recalibrate mode? If so try that.

The bung is after the turbo. I took the O2 sensor out and turned the key.. it went full lean. I then installed it and it was normal again.. I also had a couple loose bolts in the exhaust... and maybe a loose connection. Whatever it was its fixed now. To turn down the boost ill have to remove the turbo from the sled right?

Ok, so I have to take the turbo off which is a huge nuisance. I took the cotter pin out and turned the threaded end piece on the rod counter clockwise 1 full turn. It still shows 7 Psi everynow and then and bangs off the rev limiter. Im going to try 1 1/2 turns next.

Hey guys. I've loosened the rod out 4.5 turns now. And I'm still over boosting.. I took her out on the trail tonight and I'm sure I seen 8 flash on the gauge.. I immediately turned around and went home. I don't understand why there is so much tuning with a "kit" Shouldn't it come set up, or pretty close to what you need.. I'm going to do another 3 turns tomorrow, but I'm worried that I'm running out of threads.

Don't the mpi kits come with a turbo smart controller?

You have altitude compensation on MCX, @ 2000 feet you should see ~ 7.3 psi.
So set your wg rod as it was and look for solution for the over rev in clutches.
