There she blows! Gotta love what this lake effect can churn up.... And in just the spot I was expecting it.
(No, the lakes aren't safe yet!)

She going to rain on your parade. .. Mid January might be ridable.. Sorry but its reality.. Thinking about taking my fishing boat up for Christmas fishing... Not a chance im taking my sleds.. 11s is Michigan will have massive MUD holes after it rains next week. The rain will take the frost out possibly also....

True..... Why do I even try to prepare for a December 1st start, when I know better.
It's because I live in the past.....

Sad but true.

Forecast looks like warmer than normal for the Midwest thru mid Jan. Rain for Christmas here. I'm wondering if we'll even turn a track here in southern MN this winter. Seen it before and this is the warmest outlook I've ever seen in my life.

Getting my 2023 all setup and hoping for a decent winter at some point to ride, if not it will be ready for next season....

My buddy rented a house up north for the winter and there is just no decent snow in the forecast for the foreseeable future anywhere even up north. He is REALLY bummed putting all that money into a season house rental.

In North Western Ontario we only have a light covering of snow, definitely not enough for riding with some rain but no snow forecast in coming weeks. Some of our lakes are frozen but ice thickness varies greatly. Sleds may not get many miles this winter but the four wheelers will.
Maybe Yamaha had a crystal ball for exiting market.

Living in N. Illinois, I've learned to chase it for the last 20yrs +. Just the way it is. Now I'm learning to move fast. If there's another way, please share.
The only thing this has an effect on, is the frequency. Too much windshield time tires me out.
It will come, and ill definitely be riding by Jan 15th. One way or another.
Honestly, if I didn't have any prep work this year, I would have spent the month of December down in Florida. My street glide is sitting down there waiting for me. Good friends, little sunshine & great rides to be had.....good times.

You guys had a great year last season. Seemed like it was always snowing by you..
This will be my 9th or 10th Christmas - new years in the UP.. This is by far the worst accept one year back about 20 years ago on Lake Gogebic before I had my place.. Not one snow flake on the ground(green grass) and the lake was no ice.. Got socked with 2 feet of lake effect.. Then it was mud hole jumping for weeks.. LOL .
This year. I went all out with a catalyst and I picked up a new trailer last night.. Such abuzz kill.. Planning on driving over in the truck to Eagle river to visit some friends after Christmas on Chaney lake. We have decided were getting together so we can bitch all day about the weather and have cocktails! talk #*$&@ about sleds and snow! :p. Maybe some sheepshead.

I don't know how you guys do it! I give you credit.. I can hardly stand driving 3 hours to ride ! You know its bed when they have very little snow in the upper Kewaunee. Twin lakes

We had lake effect with high winds yesterday.
4 inches in my yard and more snow inland. No base at all.
One sled came ripping by the house last night on the road.
Calling for rain this weekend....
:die

MY HOPE!! is the weather is about 5-8 degrees cooler then they are forecasting.. Then maybe we get more wet snow then rain.. Im not holding my breath.. Really need a big system snow with wet packy stuff... God rest is soul > John Dee is rolling in his grave and saying just "grin and bare it" !! Always loved reading his forecasts and some of his comments. We need a " Bayfield Bomber" .

I'm sure winter will hit at some point. Just going to take a while. It's called the law of averages.
Snowmobiling is the best motorsport there is. I have Dirtbikes, ATV's and SxS's and they just don't do it for me. They have their place, but they don't replace a snowmobile or trail riding.

It will be OK and come at some point (I hope). Few years ago it all came in Feb. and we rode nonstop for weeks.

Last year the western half of the UP had more snow then the Munising area. We didn't get good snow until mid January.
