Hey guys..tearing into my 08 steering to replace all the busings when I notice the engine moves up and down a little to much when pulling up on the primary clutch. Upon closer inspection I see a missing engine mount bolt and the opposite one loose! Is this a known issue?? Tried searching for this, but as usaul get to many results. Can someone direct me to the info on this?
Thanks
Thanks

not an issue far as i know, however if it was not torqued properly after the filter change might have come loose.

A guy from my snow club had this happen. Last summer he had the motor for work and he thinks he didn't torque it back. Oops

I bought the sled used in Ferbuary and it only had about 5000k on it. I did a filter change myself right after I bought it. I removed the filter from below without going through the top. It appeared to be an original filter still...so no one went in through the top. I can't see having to remove those bolts anyways to do a filter change. The right side bolt which has this tabed spacer is completley loose missing a nut and the left side has fallen out completely. I was shocked to see both engine mounts in this condition. I felt nothing in the time I had ridden it as far as vibrations.

this is the first time I hear about this. I would make sure to Locktite and torque the new bolts.
I can't see a reason to remove the bolts to do an oil change either. I go at the filter from the top every year. I would hope the previous owner had changed the filter after the initial 800 or so Km's.

Is a known issue and part of 2 different recalls. One was part of outer balljoint bolt recall and other engine mount bolt was in the Icing recall. If those recalls were done then report this to Yamaha because either it is a ongoing issue or your dealer/tech didnt do the recalls properly and corporate needs to know that.

Thanks Cannondale!
I have a friend who works at Yamaha Canada whos looking into any service bulletens on this.
My 08 is actually a US import, so he's not sure if the VIN # will tell him anything. Comparing my 09 when I pulled the clutch cover off and moved the primary up and down, it felt tight. I'm going to do the steering bushings on that one too and I'll be looking at the mount bolts and re-torquing/loctitie. I strongly advise evryone to do a visual when they do a filter change to look for loose mount bolts. Funny thing is that I didn't notice anything unusual while riding it. Even swapping the 09 with my son while riding side by side. However when I saw the engine move up and down that much today...I freaked!!

No problem. If you look at your stamped serial # on side of tunnel there will be punch marks above and to the sides of some of the numbers. Those punch marks were put there to indicate that the safety recalls were done.If not there they werent done.I believe it is 09's and older for both recalls but dont hold me to that.If a VIP member here you have access to all the factory bulletins and such.Is well worth it.

I beleive it was 08 an ealier. Just imported my 09 RTX (wifes actually) and i had to submit my recall documentation, only recall the 09 RTX had was a wiring connector, no mention of ball joints/engine bolts...
Thanks.Wasnt sure on dates but anyway there is a list of affected units.I guess this just goes to show how important the recalls really are even mechanically wise. Please check your sleds vin periodically at your dealer.
