Mountain Lite as a crossover

These make very good crossover sleds! but... make sure you add a wheel where jonnys got one in his pic or your slides will pretty much melt off instantly. Make sure you are ready for some interesting handling, but if you are an aggressive rider you should be fine. Also short track phazer a-arms should make handling much better. I put the extra wheels on and so far 1000 miles and not noticable wear, and ive been through all kinds of snow conditions, but mostly hard pack to low snow lately. I would also stay away from 07s just because you always got that chance of not having updates...

Wait, walden, from your sig it looks like you got an xtx nytro? great idea, Ill trade sleds straight up!!! Just kidding but if ya would Im in wisconsin too!

Joe

Yeah, I ride an XTX and love it. I'm looking to add another sled for my wife and eventually my 12 yr. old son. We go west on occasion and I'm hoping more as my sons get older. The Phazer MTX seems to have the same skid at the XTX, or at least the tipped up rails and I love mine for all purposes here. So, sorry no even up trade!!

So does anyone know if there is a list of updates out there on a thread, I've searched and can't find one. I found what looks to be a pretty good price on an 07 and I'm wondering how much I need to plan on to update.

Thanks,

I think if you are a donating member there is a complete list in the VIP section, but thats just what ive heard? Id love an xtx, poor phazer is starting to be all throttle or no throttle... fast enought top speed just needs to get there faster. Heres a little list of updates and shtuff ive heard of.

Cold start update
$10 wire harness if hadwarmers dont work most 07s dont...
Mine had a ball joint undate before I bought it or steering, cant remember what the dealer told me when they looked up the history
Fan on the radiator up front, but that might not be an update just a gotta have item!!!
Reinforced suspention link on rear skid, it may be a billet piece now, but a very common breakage point
Take the fuel tank off and check the exhaust doughnuts!!! mine were loose and spinning around wearing on the pipes at 3250 miles!
Theres plenty of others Ive heard of just cant think of them

I would be a little leary on 07s unless its really cheap, I lucked out with mine and bought with 2 years of warranty left on it. Id look around for wide a-arms though, it can be pretty unpredictable, but the ski spacers can be moved to widen the front a little also.
Good luck

If your asking for recalls? Here are all the recalls I got on the 07 phazer Mnt light. ball joint 2, MTN ecu kit, hinge rivet, front upper arm, steering idler arm, altitude compensation, and joint connector.

Well after my first LONG ride with the MTX on trails (210+ miles) I've determined that I made the CORRECT choice for a cross over sled. I had no issue crusing all day in the 40-60mph range and some LONG sustained runs at 70+ mph. One stretch was to the bars for a few miles showing 85-87mph on the speedo topped out. Averaged 18mpg on the trip to boot. the best part is I don't FEEL like I rode 210+ miles the next morning, I could go out and do it again today but the trails are melting fast and lost a carbide yesterday. So I think I'm done for the year unless we get a big snowfall in march.

Exactly! I love the suspention on these sleds trail riding, and the trails in here in WI are melting fast too... I think the 40-60 mph is right up this sleds alley riding trail. I hit the rev limiter at 84 mph on the speedo. I can also get 18+ mpg but... I dont ride easy enough to see that, more like 15-16 mpg

I talked my dealers mechanic last night at our snowmobile clubs fundraiser and he was telling me I should look into a hauk clutch kit, gona put that on the growing list of upgrades for next year.

I rolled my sled yesterday on an icy corner that I slid then caught and the rest was history after sliding behing the phazer 40 feet... I bent my bars back and they kinked off a little bit, windshield braket is not so staight and my primary wore a small hole in the plastic as it slid 40 feet on its side and then hit snow and flipped pretty hard as I slid helplessly behind it... :o|

Joe,
At least your throttle didn't stick and send you sled straight into an elevator! My fricken leg has a huge gash/scar/bruise now but the sled ran great for the 100 miles Justin and I put on Yesterday! When we were riding the 131 trail back to Wilton yesterday Justin was leading and there was another elevator off the side of the trail and Justin stopped and was waving his arms for me so I didn't hit another one haha. Turns out it's just that one elevator behind the shop my sled is attracted to.

Ya after watching your sled slam into that elevator, Im thinging of not looking into throttle extentions and getting a longer cable...

well got the last ride out of the phazer for the year tonight, maybe for the life of the sled? Smoked a deer at 60mph.... shes f.ed pretty good. Ill post all the pics in the general phazer forum to show whats the most likely outcome of a deer collision. sled took the hit great and still ran but the air box caved in among everything esle getting tweeked a little. I am fine, a lil sore, the deer even swong around and hit me in the side and then flew approx 20-30 feet off the trail where she died shortly after impact, lol.
