Has anyone heard anything further about Yamaha's new rear heat exchanger for the mountain? It was supposed to be out by December I thought.

Rear Heat Exchanger

Get the Viper one it is only $50 and it is available now.

I would prefer a FLAT exchanger that is narrow enough so that I can mount it flat in the rear portion of the tunnel extension AND run the coolant lines INSIDE (under) the tunnel extension. I want a clean looking install. This season I haven't got over 165 degrees on the temp. gauge because we actually have snow. PB

Viper Heat exchanger

From your dealer. Yamaha issued a tech bulletin selling Viper heat exchangers for $50 retail. Their cost is 43. It is a goodwill thing because of so many complaints from the 02 Viper owners. The part # is 8EK-RHECR-KT-00

Buckeye is right.....

Thats how i got mine and brought it to a machine shop had them cut
the inlets off and reweld them so the overall was 15" outside of inlets
then get single wall hydrolic hose 4 pcs 3/4"" x 28" and 4 clamps plus
pick up some alluminum 3/4" x 3' @ Canadian tire store for straps plus
a piece of alluminum 15" x 8" for the rear support some good rivets
and a round rasp to enlarge the side frame holes and its a piece of cake.

Solve all your problem even the build up of snow & ice in the tunnel
no more PAM required.

MM700 Cooler Installed

I've installed the MM700 rear cooler. Lies flat inside the rear extension. Simple installation. Black plastic cover hides most of the hoses and connectors. Never overheated after installing last February, even in low snow. :D MM700 Cooler is only 3/4" piping so had to use 1" to 3/4" reducer. Initially concerned about restricting flow. Also installed temp guage to check and NO PROBLEMS!!!! Completely happy with this setup. :D :D :D Only picture i've got is too big. Can get picture and post if anybody is interested.

New machine question

Got about 128 miles on my new mountain sled, but reading here that maybe the short session of hot light was not just a new sled issue. Do these beasts tend to over heat if the now is packed or light?

We ran in 17 degree temps and inch of snow, machine ran down the road 5 or 6 miles without troubles but after playing in the hills, the run back caused the hot light and engine to idle down. Happened only once so far but I am reading here that perhaps there is more to this than I realize.

What's the deal, that the dealer neglected to tell me?

Thanks

Looking to add a rear exchanger. Overheating on low snow trails. Added an expert-x suspension and the extreme bend at the back doesn't carry any snow around and the rear sits so high the flap would have to be another 10" to catch snow. There seems to be plenty of snow that hits the underside of the extension though. Would like a flat mount. Any good ideas?

Yamaha does have a new cooler for the RX1 Mountain. It is a new accessory I was told by Yamaha. Yamaha won't help in the payment either. See my post under general talk.

i've installed the Mountain Max 700 rear cooler. Not the prettiest job, still trying to figure out how to hide the hoses! Works great.
