I noticed my supercharger started making a louder than normal whistling noise a while ago and yesterday it stopped making boost. Still spins and the bearing are fine just won't build any pressure. Anyone got a stage 2 or 1 laying around while I send this one back?

Check to see if the teeth are gone off the belt.

I have the charger on the bench, belt and taper is fine, if you spin the input shaft by hand it doesn't spin the vanes and the vanes and the shaft they are mounted on is loose inside the charger... you an wiggle it around. I talked to Mountain today and they said the charger is not rebuildable.

idea would be they tell you this when you buy it. If it isn't warrentied, sounds like a worthless warrantee. Maxdlx

This unit is 4 + years old.

Rotrex warrenty is clear

Sled has almost 19000 miles! all of them supercharged. After opening up charger I found the shaft has broken in half right under the vanes and this unit is way out of warranty and they don't rebuild them so no need to send it back.

Even with the failure I am very happy with the sled and Mountain Performance. The sled is a trail monster and it's lasted 4 times longer than any turbo I've owned.

Mack hooked me up and I got my name on a replacement charger from Mountain today!!

how many of those 19000 miles are on rough trails. i'm thinking of putting on a turbo or s/c but am worried about fast riding on bumpy trails. i live in northern wi and only trail ride.

i'm in cadillac so trails are usually super flat and smooth but i don't think the super could tell if it was smooth or flat anyway, it just runs at whatever rpm i'm driving. when it is bumpy then you usually are not driving at 10500rpm so bumpy trails would be easier on the super. on a turbo it unloads every time the track looses traction and it would always have to spool up and down constantly. I have never had an aftermarket performance part that has lasted 19000 miles.
