I was wondering what the difference is between the MPI stage 1 supercharger and the MPI supercharger that Yamaha sells from the dealer. I am looking at getting one and dont really want to spend too much but want something good.

Same thing.... the dealer gets the same kit in the mail you would if you order it.

Ya the dealers are just wetting the stage one at lower levels to eliminate the need for extra engine work, possible fuel system upgrades, and the need for a different controller imo. So if you want to to to higher boost later some or all of these things may be needed from my experience

So MPI basically hung there dealers and re-seller out to dry on the Nytro kit? Still see it listed for $4995 on their site but you can pick it up at a dealership for $3995????????
Hopefully they at least spit on it before they jammed it in their reseller's @$$'.

from what I can see they will only sell these on the mountain setups, and they are setup for higher elevation is what my dealer was saying. Also eliminating the flatlanders from the purchasing equation. Which I guess makes since. Cause do you really want a tech kid in the back of a dealer playing with controls that could make you go lean or rich? They are letting the guys that have it down to a science Like Dave, Allen etc stick with the more expensive time consuming stuff like that, and the liability. So the discount is for the mountain guys to increase sales in that market. Would be nice if they would just bolt on a supercharger at say 180HP and sell it done for all from the factory. Then you just sign that if you change the pulley's etc the liability etc is yours for safety and the vehicle. Instead of stirring up the waters on the internet. Since it is a world wide hobby that guys talk about. Just my two cents though.

I know that it is for the mountain sleds but that can't stop anyone from buying it and installing themselves. Your warranty is out the window with Boost anyway. Yamaha worded it that if your system causes an issue it will not be a warranted repair.
All I'm saying is I can go buy this kit from a dealer ($3995), buy MPI's optional Stand-alone fuel system ($1495), Install everything and be $1000 cheaper on the package than I would get it from Allen or Dave or any other reseller as they have to sell it for $4995 and $1495.
Hopefully the discounts Yamaha is receiving will be filtered to the reseller as well to help them out.

The kit offered by Yamaha does not include an intercooler so that will limit you on the amount of boost you can run on pump gas. They are not the same kits offered by Yamaha as a Stage 1 kit or offered by Mountain Performance as a Stage 1. There is a fair amount of differences as in on the Yamaha kit there is no intercooler and also the fuel controller can not be adjusted.

Thanks for clarifying Allen. Good to hear you guys aren't getting screwed over. This is what I wanted to hear.

Very true... My fault... I didnt realize he was talking about the 180 kit. I was talking about a stage 1 install from the dealer.
I hope this is the first steps towards Yamaha offering boosted sleds production.... for all riders. Its got to be coming soon?

Proof that some dealers around here don't even know exactly what they are talking about. Just saying! Glad this site is here to get the real stories, and behind the scenes info
