Mpi turbo 180/190?

Guy's I love it when you chime in, I'm just basically trying to get an idea on how to get the most out of my viper at 6 psi with simple inexpensive mods, like making it breathe and provide enough fuel, not looking at injectors, pcv, studs, head shims, flashes, or intercoolers, as a side winder is in my near future.

Also what hp per # of boost are these 180/190 tubo's putting out, guy at mpi told me that the eabc is preprogrammed at 3.9-4.3 # boost at sea level and it goes up as altitude rizes.

I've seen a few of them done on the same dyno. The mpi trail turbo with eabc ran at 4 psi and made 169 hp at 9000 rpm. Peak torque if I remember right was 105ish ft/lbs. elevation there would've been 900-1000'. Same exact sled with a 2.5" exhaust simply bolted on made 185 hp and around 110-111 ft/lbs.

That's a significant increase on the 2.5" exhaust, so at 6 psi, 2.5" exhaust, straight line header and intake through the hood should yeild me 200+ safe reliable crank hp? With no other modz, just change fuel settings on the gems.

Power should easily be there, fuel would be my concern. Rising rate fuel regulator would benefit you a lot to keep the fuel there..but it's still a matter of "how lucky do you feel?" 6 psi has proven that it can be too much for a stock engine without headstuds. With everything you listed there, 5 psi will get you 195-200 horse..with proper clutching and gearing that will make for a very fast machine! Clutching is the biggest thing if you ask me, you don't want to lug the engine real hard at low rpm on wot, that's where all your issues will start. High cylinder pressure, pump fuel, easy opportunity for detonation and poof there goes your head gasket..or worse. Keep the engine rpm right up there near that 9000 range where they like to run and don't be afraid to run rich on the fueling.

Im not affraid to throw some money at the viper as its not going anywhere , just dont want to go crazy like a 1/3 of a side winder worth, with that said, head studs and a regulated return fuel pump like mpi's should do the trick at 5-6 psi.

Upgraded turbo on the 15 with 19t billet wheel too correct? That's a significant upgrade when comparing boost for boost

yes i always forget about the 19T wheel but i still think the stock motor is snappier than the low compression pistons. If you are looking for the most at the least cost the stock motor (with head studs) is the way to go if you are staying at 7 lbs or under!

Absolutely! If you put head studs in and have plenty of fuel then by all means run 6 psi. With everything u have listed there, especially the 2.5" exhaust you'll be 200+ hp..just be sure not to make the engine labor hard at low rpm, set clutching to rev up quickly and maintain 8800+ rpm to avoid any chance of detonation.

That's what i plan on running this year stock compression, stage 1 intercooler kit, arp head studs, mpi loud muffler, intake out side, 430cc injectors, pcv-pti ulmer map with auto tune, ulmer header, evo flash with pulled timing, fan controller set at 165*F, sea level @ 7-7.5 psi and 21/41 gears, revers cut helix, stm super tips with smaller rollers, and thunder products orange secondary spring for the sidewinder on my rtx. After listing all that would have been cheaper to buy a sidewinder lol

When you say 2.5" exhaust are referring to the mpi loud or something else? I have the mpi quiet can and am looking to make a few more in the mtns. Stage 1 intercooled, eabc on a 15 MTX 163. It falls off above 8000'

No

Mpi race/loud can is only 2" at best, not sure who if anyone makes a 2.5" for viper, i will be fabbing my own.

Aero turbine muffler in 2.5", same company as mpi uses for their 2" loud/race can

Did you ever get around to doing this mod? If so did you buy the Aero AR25 resonator or did you use a MPI race can and just replace the intake with a 2.5 inch pipe?
