Munising fun ride, Who's in? Who's out?

Yeah, what peter said. It ain't so bad for me.......16 mi. drive.... If I was still doing the 600 each way I'd be seriously wondering..........

I cancelled this week and re-booked for the Giveaway ride next month.

Right now things are not looking good in Muni. If they do not get at least 3 to 6 over night we will be canceling the ride tomorrow.

O.K., here's "the real deal".........I would have had this done a lot earlier but needed another run to town........"emergency" dental work for Mrs. Buddah.....she had some stuff done yesterday and some of it came loose.....

Ah, the stuff you do for your friends.........after a 117 mile loop (car, not sled.....and "normal" to town & back is 40)......here's everything I can determine as of approximately noon...........started out from the house......when I got up to Chamberlain Rd. (the stop sign on Trail 8 between Hwy 13 & the Wetmore spur) I drove down there to the trail.... Trail 8 is absolutely the smoothest I have EVER seen it.......also the hardest.....there are some loose ice chunks about the size of fingernails down the middle of the trail but to give you and idea I backed my Suburban up onto the trail far enough to turn around and did NOT leave a mark......nothing......couldn't even tell I'd done it.

So from there I turned east over to Shingleton..........utterly bare down both sides of the road in the normal problem area.......continued on out to the Four Corners/Kingston Plains area..........NADA......just as hard and crusty as our place........they were having a little lake effect snow but it wasn't even enough to cover the road......

Only positive note.......with the trail as absolutely smooth as they currently are, it wouldn't take but 3 to 4" to make it dang near perfect......

Two other sidelight notes.......I stopped and talked to the owner of the Bear Trap........they will be doing breakfast all winter and actually have a decent selection........maybe slightly pricier than Woodlands but acceptable if we're going that way........he did ask if we were going to descend on him with a large group that we call a day ahead so he could be sure to have enough help...........reasonable request........

Also talked to the new owner of the Melstrand General Store.....he will have gas all winter........he's $.30/gal. higher than BP but if you're about to run out that's good to know..........

SO there you have it..............without a genuine miracle, I'd say as of now, don't bother..............

Thanks for the update Budda! We are coming up reguardless, forecast looks very promising! We will be getting in on Wed. night and if we wake up thursday and nothing seems to have changed then we will run up to houghton area and stay there for the wekend.
I believe in miracles! lol.....

Thanks BUDDAH :) :) :) :)

But for now it looks no good. Making the drive for the small amout of snow that will come by the weekend is hard to do.
Next weekend that might just work :)

As for better news how about the new forecast for Thursday? 4 to 6" during the day and 6 to 9" Thursday night. I know it's betting on the "if come" but at least it's encouraging?
