Running same secondary spring at 3-3 plenty of top end, more heat=less efficient, going to 6-1 helps out the hold but finish rate still same. 3_3 with black orange is same 60 degree as 3_3 stock spring. If you go 6_1 go back to stock helix else spin and be bumping rev limiter off line. Sidewinder don't need 33 start for trail, it's got plenty low end go power
Well the maker of the spring, Dale from Dalton, says wrap it 6-1 according to Dan and 1100saber. And Joe is running the 33/35 Helix as I am, and changed to 6-1, and he increased his top end quite a bit he said. Clutches being warm(not hot) shouldn’t be robbing efficiency very much at all.
I’d like to hear from Joe a lil more being our set up is the same (except for the belt).

I'm no where close to rev limiter. My machine loves the 33 start at 6-1.
Joe, what are your revs at on top now that you’re at 6-1?? They must have increased from the 8300 you were at before...cuz that’s low
I’m seriously thinking of trying this for my next trip. Was very happy with the set up at 3-3, but if the 6-1 is even better..more top End, then why not??? Right?? If 8800 is peak power, and I’ve been at 8550-8600, I have some room to play with.

My latest clutch kit is dalton primary weights, usually black/green spring depends on engagement desired. Black/orange Dalton spring wound at 6-1.
Works awesome, great top end, not much heat, no blown belts we raced 1000 feet back to back to back all weekend at 285HP on TD max spool (see video).
My sled had STM clutches as we wanted to compare performance. Mine was the quickest but it was due to best traction. There was a TCat with full STM clutches and it was not quicker.
Mike had the TD clutch kit and overall was the 2nd quickest out of 4 in the group in my opinion. Again he hooked best after my sled.
SO power wise all sleds were the same clutch wise all ran very similar (2 TD clutch kits stock clutches, 2 STM setups). My cat had the best track and stud setup for ice racing so that's what gave it the edge.

I have your heavy duty secondary rollers in mine..they are superb. Do you think running 6-1 with the Dalton Black/Orange Secondary spring, And Dalton Reverse 33/35 Helix is the way to go for a stock Winder??

Sorry didn't mean to upset boat, just throwing in what I've been running, I run excel weights, Dalton black bronze primary, black orange secondary 39/33 helix for long runs, 37/33 for corner to corner twisty ridin. Hits 8900 settles 8800 and 1000ft straights will be up to 8950 on hard pack

Might try 6-1 wrap to see what does, my clutches aren't even 100 degrees after 5 to 6 wide open pulls 800 ft each in powder and hardpac at 3-3. Maybe 6-1 little better backshift

Oh no worries. It’s good to get others ideas too.
I could use a couple hundred more Revs at the top. I only have 417 miles on it so far, so she will loosen up more going forward I’m thinking. But perhaps that’s the key if you’re running what Joe and I are...you wrap it 6-1??

Surprised 6-1 with 33/35 isn't bitten 9200 out the hole, I ran that at beginning if winter 9200 out gate then 86 to 8700 consistent. I put stock 35 back on, bumps 9000 and same rest of way. Your rpms seem way low even stock

Mine is 8550-8600 on average. A couple times 8700. If 8800 is where you should be stock..I don’t think that’s way low. A tad low perhaps? It’s a brand new sled..I’m thinking it’s gonna loosen up more and may gain a couple hundred more Revs as the miles pile on. Wrapping it 6-1 May increase the revs a bit too like Joe seems to have gotten with his.

Surprised that TD clutch kit With 74 gram DTAY-1 weights is very drivable with stock tune. Seems I’m maxing 8300 ish and gettting 105–108 mph. Gonna light the Powertrail tune tomorrow.~750 miles on my Winder.

Now those revs seem somewhat low...if 8800 is where you want to be stock.

Agreed 100% but the clutch kit for 265 HP is totally drivable at Stock HP level I am surprised by that and I thought it useful information so I shared. Now those revs seem somewhat low...if 8800 is where you want to be stock.
